“You’re trying to fool Grandpa with some shady pills, and now you’re even cursing him to get sick? What are you plotting?” Mia snapped, her voice dripping with accusation.
As Sherwood’s face darkened, Mia quickly turned to him. “Grandpa, don’t listen to her nonsense. She’s just jealous of Amanda, thinks she can’t measure up, so she’s trying to get your attention this way.”
She shot Sienna a critical look, her tone full of impatience. “And look at what she’s wearing. It’s her first time coming here to see you, and she shows up dressed so casually. It’s just rude. Honestly, the Cooper family doesn’t even care about her, or they wouldn’t let her show up looking so shabby.”
Mia was fuming, desperate for Sherwood to see Sienna’s true colors.
Sienna’s expression barely changed.
She was just about to speak…
“Mia.” Mason stepped right in front of Sienna, his tall frame exuding a commanding presence. He glanced up coolly, sending Mia a glacial glare.
His voice wasn’t loud, but the icy authority in it cut through all the noise like a blade, casting a hush over the room. Mia shrank in on herself.
An icy chill radiated off him, so intense it sent chills down everyone’s spine. “Grandpa hasn’t spoken yet, so why are you barking here? Is this what passes for manners in the Brown family?”
Mia’s bravado collapsed instantly. Even with her head down, she could feel Mason’s stare–like icy daggers. stabbing straight into her, leaving her frozen in her spot.
She was trembling all over, her knees threatened to buckle, and she almost dropped to the floor.
Her lips quivered as she stammered, “I, I didn’t… I was just…”
“Sienna is Grandpa’s honored guest, and mine too,” Mason said, eyes narrowing dangerously, his entire aura cold and threatening. “She’s not someone you get to pass judgment on. If you can’t keep your mouth shut, get
out.”
Mia was so rattled that her eyes grew misty with fright, and she shrank back, silent and intimidated.
Seeing Mason stand up for Sienna like that, Sherwood’s eyes lit up with an amused smile.
It was pretty clear that Mason was acting totally different around Sienna.
This was the first time Sherwood had seen Mason be so invested in any girl.
‘Man, this is getting good, Sherwood mused, feeling the sparks in the air. ‘I can definitely smell romance brewing here!
Sherwood stroked his chin, a playful light in his eyes. “Unless my old eyes are fooling me… that dress Sienna’s

‘YB? The globally top–tier design brand? Even as the heiress of the Brown family, it’s nearly impossible to get my hands on their top designs,‘ Mia fretted, mind reeling.
‘How could Sienna possibly be wearing something from Yara Bloom?
‘And seriously… when does Yara Bloom ever make something so understated?‘
Sherwood gave Mia a sly look. “Well, Yara Bloom’s tailoring and embroidery are unmistakable. No wonder they’re world–famous. Sienna’s dress might seem simple at first, but if you take a good look at the embroidery on her collar, isn’t that Yara Bloom’s signature technique?”
Mia whipped her head toward Sienna in shock.
With years of studying luxury brands under her belt, Mia immediately recognized Yara Bloom’s unique embroidery style.
Her face turned white as a sheet, feeling like she’d just been slapped right across the face.
Sherwood said with a chuckle, “Honestly, I don’t care what Sienna wears. I think she looks fantastic either way. She’s so clean and stylish. And with her looks, she’d make a burlap sack look classy.”
His words were full of affection for Sienna.
“As for the gift…” Sherwood gently stroked the little bottle Sienna had given him, treating it like a treasure. “It’s your thoughtfulness that matters most to me.
“And anyway, Sienna is the Cooper family’s beloved daughter–their pride and joy. You think they’d ever let their own kid be mistreated?”
With those words, Amanda’s face went pale, and she looked like she was about to faint right there.
‘Is Grandpa throwing shade at me?‘ Amanda thought, her heart sinking fast. ‘So I’m just the fake heiress of the Cooper family. Does he only care about… the actual real heiress?‘
“Amanda.” Right then, Sherwood turned his eyes on Amanda.
Amanda jolted, struggling to keep her cool as she stared at him, completely rattled.
Her eyes grew red–rimmed with emotion.
Sherwood’s voice softened. “I got your thoughtful gesture, Amanda, and I do appreciate the broth. But with Sienna’s pills, that’s all I really need.”
A flood of humiliation and embarrassment washed over Amanda, tears pricking at her eyes.
She clamped her teeth on her lip, doing everything she could not to break down in front of everyone.
She couldn’t believe it. Sherwood had always treated her kindly, even hoped she’d marry Mason someday, and yet now he was openly favoring Sienna, putting all his trust in her.

Even before, when Sherwood didn’t know she was adopted, he had never been so amiable, so unconditionally trusting and enthusiastic towards her.
Mia watched as Amanda looked like she was about to collapse, completely crushed and on the verge of giving
Mia clenched her jaw.
No way am I letting this ruin my future,’ she vowed to herself.
She’d poured so much energy into Amanda, betting everything on her marrying into the Browns–because with Amanda in, she’d be able to score some serious perks for herself.
After all, counting on her loser dad was a dead end.
She had to make sure her own future was set.
She was also planning to use Sherwood and the main branch to help her snag the most eligible husband in the family for a perfect marriage alliance.
She was out to squeeze every bit of advantage she could get.
But none of that could even happen unless Amanda actually managed to marry Mason.
Even though Mia was shaking with fear, she refused to back down. Gritting her teeth, she spoke up again, “But… but Grandpa, Amanda spent all her savings to bid for that Wellness Powder. It was made by Dr. C. How could there be anything wrong with it? Sienna doesn’t even know medicine; she’s just trying to make trouble. You can’t just listen to her side of the story…”
Mason’s presence grew even colder; his expression–aloof and almost unearthly–was dangerously captivating.
That charm was chilling and unsettling, sending goosebumps down everyone’s arms.
