Amanda was devastated, but she forced herself to keep a straight face in front of Sherwood.

Sherwood waved his hand. “It’s not me you should be thanking.”

Amanda knew she had to avoid showing even a hint of bad blood toward Sienna right now.

Amanda’s sobs caught in her throat.

She stared at Sienna in disbelief. She never thought Sienna would shut her down so publicly, not even bother to give her a shred of dignity.

She couldn’t believe Sienna would humiliate her right in front of the Browns like that.

‘Doesn’t she care people will think she’s been picking on poor little me ever since she came back to the Cooper family?‘ Amanda thought.

With that thought, Amanda pulled the most pitiful face she could muster, tears slipping down her cheeks as she reached out for Sienna’s hand, looking all lost and vulnerable. “Sienna, how could I not mean it? I really am grateful to you…”

In her mind, she was already plotting–if Sienna just brushed her off, she could stumble and fall, making it seem like Sienna had shoved her right in front of everyone.

Amanda was so jealous it felt like her insides were about to explode.

She was seething, choking on fury and bitterness.

She was dead set on staying. Blinking back tears and forcing a quiver into her voice, she desperately tried to win even a shred of sympathy. “Sherwood, Mason… I swear, I’m not faking it. I truly, sincerely appreciate Sienna…”

“That’s enough,” Mason said coldly.

His devastatingly handsome face seemed carved from ice, his gaze towards Amanda as chilling

snow, freezing her in place. “Out of respect for the Cooper family, I’m letting this slide today. But if you keep pushing, you’ll only end up embarrassing yourself.”

His cold stare and razor–sharp words felt like icy blades, slicing right into Amanda’s heart.

She went stiff, the pain so sharp it almost stole her breath away.

Her tears flooded down, practically drenching her face.

Sherwood let out a weary sigh and waved his hand. “Amanda, go check on Mia at the hospital. She ended up getting hurt because of the broth you brought her. It’s only right for you to go and take care of her.”

He was basically giving Amanda an excuse to leave with her dignity intact.

But Amanda clenched her fists, nails digging deep into her palms.

‘Take care of that walking disaster, Mia?‘ she seethed to herself. ‘Why should I?‘

Amanda was even more furious now, but she didn’t dare let a hint of it slip. With her head bowed in humiliation, her voice catching, she forced herself to say, “Yes… I was just about to go to the hospital to check

on Mia…”

She turned away, with tears still shimmering in her eyes.

‘Sienna showing up as Mason’s date at Mia’s coming–of–age party?‘ That thought nearly made Amanda’s head explode.

She’d spent all these years letting everyone know that the Cooper and Brown families had an engagement and she’d practically worn the title of Mason’s future wife on her sleeve.
