Suddenly, a scene flashed through Melvin’s mind.

It was that day at the Moon Restaurant–he’d seen the Brown family’s heir going to Sienna with the kind of regal aura that made him seem almost otherworldly.

Melvin’s heart skipped a beat.

‘Could it be… Melvin wondered, a wave of anxiety washing over him.

Was that man in the car actually Mr. Brown?‘ Melvin thought, his nerves on edge.

But the next second, Melvin shut that thought down.

‘No way, he told himself.

He didn’t have the qualifications to really know Mason, but he’d heard all the stories about that legendary heir.

Mason stood at the very top–no one could ever get near him, not even a fly.

Honestly, even if Sienna looked like a goddess, there was just no way she could ever score Mason’s attention.

‘That time at the Moon Restaurant, Mason probably just greeted her out of courtesy, for Mr. Fuller and his circle of elite heirs—nothing more,’ Melvin told himself.

But honestly, it didn’t matter who was in that car.

Sienna was definitely rubbing shoulders with the wealthy crowd now–no doubt about it.

With that thought, Melvin almost reflexively grabbed his phone and fired off a message to Sienna.

Hazel and Jessica rushed up just in time to catch a glimpse of the back of the car as it pulled away.

“That little bitch! She couldn’t even get out and face us, just drove off like we were nothing!” Hazel fumed, stomping her foot and spitting in the direction of the disappearing car. “After all these years raising her, she thinks she’s hot shit now that some rich guy’s paying her bills?”

Still cursing, Hazel shot Melvin a sour look, her words dripping with sarcasm. “See, Melvin? I told you that ungrateful brat would turn on you eventually. Doesn’t feel so great to be left out in the cold, huh?

“Now she’s rolling in luxury with her sugar daddy—living it up in a fancy villa, driving a flash car, mingling with that pack of rich kids. You think someone like her would bother with a broke dad like you?”

Jessica tightened her grip on her phone, feeling emboldened as she echoed her mother. “Exactly, Dad. Sienna doesn’t give a damn about us anymore–she thinks she’s too good for her own family.”

“Just some old man’s kept plaything,” Lawrence spat, clenching his fists, his face twisted with anger. “Why should we go begging her for anything? Just being related to her is a damn embarrassment–makes me sick!”

He just couldn’t stand Sienna putting on airs in front of him.

“You guys don’t know shit! Shut the hell up!” Melvin snapped, his eyes turning red as he glared at them. “All you ever do is mess things up and hold me back!”

If it wasn’t for these morons, Sienna would’ve come home long ago, Melvin grumbled to himself.

Melvin glared at them in frustration, then ducked his head and kept furiously texting on his phone.

Hazel shrank back from his shouting, but couldn’t help sneaking a glance at Melvin’s phone–he was still busy firing off messages to Sienna, totally fixated.

The whole screen was packed with Melvin’s texts. Not a single reply from Sienna–just him blowing up her inbox and getting absolutely nothing back.

Hazel muttered under her breath, “What are you even texting her for? For all you know, she blocked you the minute she landed that sugar daddy.”

Melvin’s fingers froze on his phone, shooting Hazel a harsh glare. “This is all your fault! If you hadn’t always treated her so nasty, we wouldn’t be dealing with all this crap now, would we?”

“Back then, she used to trail after us nonstop, just begging for a glance from you. If you’d have just shown her a ounce of kindness, a girl with her looks could’ve scored us some serious perks! But nope, you couldn’t stop yourself from always grinding her gears!”

The more Melvin ranted, the more pissed he felt. Honestly, marrying this brainless wannabe rich woman had to be his biggest mistake ever.

He ducked his head, pulled up Sienna’s number, and hit call, grumbling, “Listen up, Sienna’s not the pushover she used to be! If we just manage to sweet–talk her back home, maybe the Fairbank family still has a shot to get out of this mess!”

But the moment he hit call, all he got was the automated message.

“Sorry, the number you dialed is currently busy.”

It hit him instantly–yeah, she’d really blocked his number.

Melvin’s face turned dark as he snatched Hazel’s phone from her hand.

He kept scrolling through her contacts, flipping one name after another.

No matter how much he searched, Sienna’s name was nowhere to be found.

He looked up, obviously annoyed. “Which one’s Sienna’s number?”

Hazel pulled a face and said, “I never saved her number.”

He never even stopped to think that the only reason he had Sienna’s number at all was because Zea had once grabbed his phone and saved it for him.

If not for her, he wouldn’t have had Sienna’s number either–not even as her dad.

Hazel’s lips trembled as if she wanted to retort, but she ended up just watching Melvin fumble with his phone, carefully dialing Sienna’s number himself, one digit at a time.

This time, the call actually went through.

Melvin put on his most groveling voice. “Sienna, it’s Dad–please, just hear me out-”

Before he could finish, there was a sharp beep.

The call was hung up on the spot.

When he tried dialing again, all he got was, “Sorry, the number you dialed is currently busy.”

Turns out, Hazel’s number got blocked too.

“That little bitch! She really went and blocked both of us?” Hazel spat, her lips twisting as she glanced at Melvin’s darkening face. “Total backstabbing brat! Sure, we weren’t always nice to her, but the Fairbank family raised her all these years. Now she’s shacked up with some big shot and thinks she’s too good for us?”
