Maybe Sienna realized it was a call from the family’s home phone, and everyone was probably listening in.

So she didn’t hang up on Amanda right away.

Instead, Sienna replied in a cold voice, “I’m busy.”

Amanda deliberately probed, “Are you… busy with a project at the lab?”

There was another thud, like something heavy hitting the ground, from Sienna’s end.

Sienna’s voice was cold, barely giving a soft “Yeah.”

A smirk curled at the corner of Amanda’s lips.

‘Now the whole family finally knows what a shameless liar Sienna is–she’s been making up stories left and right. They’ve all seen her for who she really is now, haven’t they?‘ Amanda thought to herself with satisfaction.

She gripped the phone tightly, struggling to hide her smirk. Throwing her family an innocent, worried glance, Amanda bit her lip and spoke in a slightly hoarse voice, “But Sienna, Grandpa and everyone already know you didn’t go to the lab.”

She looked hesitant, her tone overflowing with fake concern as she added, “Sienna, are you in some kind of trouble? Why did you lie to us about being at the lab? Where are you? Everyone’s so worried about you…”

“Amanda!” Theo frowned, cutting her off.

Theo frowned, stopping her mid–sentence.

Her voice stayed soft, every word dripping with fake concern for Sienna, as if she was trying a little too hard to show she cared.

Yet no matter how she played it, Theo couldn’t shake the feeling that something was off.

He walked over and took the phone from Amanda, speaking gently, “Sienna, it’s your big brother–Theo.”

Sienna quickly responded, her voice still cool but more relaxed, “Hey, Theo.”

Theo continued, “Amanda bumped into Professor Sharp’s assistant today and got chatting. They mentioned there haven’t been any new projects at the lab lately, so we’re all a bit worried about you. Are you still busy? Is there anything you need from us? We’re here for you.”

There came another muffled thud from the phone, as if something heavy just slammed to the floor. Mixed into the static was the shadow of a scream, barely audible.

But Sienna remained perfectly composed. “No worries, Theo. The project’s under heavy secrecy–it’s no wonder Amanda couldn’t get her hands on any details.

“Big brother.”

Suddenly, Mason’s deep, lazy voice came through, filled with a playful smile. “Don’t worry. She’s with me, and honestly? She’s never been better.”

The instant Mason’s voice came through the phone, the whole Cooper family froze for a second–then as one, they sat up straighter, tension crackling in the air as they exchanged startled glances.

Everyone in the Cooper family straightened up, glancing at one another in shared surprise.

‘Sienna… with Mason?‘ they all thought in disbelief, a quiet shock rippling through the room.

Even though weird background noises kept coming through the line, the Cooper family found themselves starting to relax.

It was something about Sienna’s steady voice and Mason’s laid–back tone that made the atmosphere shift- they didn’t sound worried at all.

Everyone felt a wave of reassurance wash over them.

If Sienna was with Mason, they figured she’d be perfectly safe–nothing dangerous would dare touch her while he was around.

The whole Cooper family finally let out a collective sigh of relief.

But Amanda’s eyes widened to saucers, her face going ghostly pale in an instant.

‘Sienna… with Mason? No way!‘ Amanda’s mind buzzed, disbelief crashing over her.

‘Why… why would those two be together?‘ Her heart thudded, jealousy twisting inside her.

‘Did Sienna seriously move out just for Mason?‘ The thought made Amanda’s head spin.

‘Figures! That hick from the sticks just has a million tricks up her sleeve, Amanda gritted her teeth, rolling her eyes in her head.

‘She really… she really stooped so low just to hook Mason!‘ Amanda fumed, almost shaking with rage disbelief.

“Since you two are together, we can finally relax,” Theo said as his tone softened. “Mason, I’m counting on you to take care of Sienna.”

Mason’s deep, laid–back voice came through, edged with a playful grin. “Don’t mention it, Theo. We’re family, after all–no need to thank me.”

Just as Mason finished speaking, a muffled commotion sounded on the other end.

It seemed like someone tried to cover his mouth, but Mason quickly shoved their hand away.

Then Sienna’s voice came through, calm and steady. “I should be done with my work in the next couple of days. I’ll be home soon.”

“I’m still busy here, so I have to go. Don’t worry about me–I’m fine,” she added.

Theo said a couple more reminders before hanging up.

He turned to his family, who were all staring at him, and explained, “Mason also works at the lab. I asked him to keep an eye on Sienna, and now that they’re together, I really don’t think there’s anything to worry about.”

Pansy let out a sigh of relief. “Mason’s a good kid–I’m honestly not worried at all. As long as Sienna’s safe, that’s all I care about.”

Rolf’s expression softened a little.

Then, his sharp eyes slowly turned to Amanda, who looked pale as a ghost.

He narrowed his eyes, sounding dead serious. “Amanda, quit poking around in stuff that’s none of your business–especially when it’s confidential. You’re a Cooper. Every word, every move, it all represents the family, so keep yourself in check.

“If the wrong person gets wind of what you did today, it could cause a heap of trouble for all of us,” he warned.

He paused, his gaze sharp as ever. “Just stay in your lane and mind your own business. Sienna’s got her own stuff–leave her alone.”

That was a clear warning.

Amanda’s face went even paler, her fingers curling unconsciously as her heart pounded in her chest.

‘Crap… did Grandpa Rolf notice something?‘ Amanda thought, panic tightening in her gut.

‘Amanda barely had time to come up with a defense before Rolf pressed a hand to his chest, looking wearied, and turned toward Theo.

“Theo, push me back to my room. I need to rest,” he said.

Amanda’s lips trembled.

Watching Theo wheel Rolf off toward the bedroom, she had no choice but to turn her attention to Pansy instead.
