Fake Heiress Real Trouble (Sienna) novel Chapter 31

Chapter 31

On the surface, Amanda’s words came across as sticking up for Sienna.

But read between the lines, and they were basically implying that Sienna was ill-mannered, clueless about proper behavior, and completely snubbing Theo.

Behind his glasses, Theo’s warm, dark eyes flickered just a touch. When he turned to Amanda, the warmth in them cooled off noticeably.

Even so, he kept that gentle smile plastered on. “No big deal. Rules are made to be bent-people aren’t. Sienna has real work on her plate, and family’s supposed to be about backing each other up and cutting some slack.”

His voice stayed as even and kind as always, but it was obvious he had Sienna’s back every step of the way.

Amanda’s smile stiffened. Her slim fingers balled into fists without thinking, a knot of pent-up irritation twisting inside her, making her feel totally slighted.

She wondered, ‘Even Theo… how could he side with her too! What kind of hold does this Sienna have on everyone?’

She was seething, but she knew better-the Cooper family members were a perceptive bunch.

She’d already gotten on Rolf’s bad side last time. No way was she risking more right now.

Right on cue, Eden bustled over and spoke to Rolf. “Sir, I could swear I just spotted a Brown family car at the main house gate.”

“The Brown family?” Rolf raised an eyebrow in surprise.

Yeah, the Cooper family and Brown family were on good terms-he and Sherwood Brown went way back as buddies. But showing up unannounced this late? That wasn’t their style. Something must be up.

“The Brown family?” Amanda’s eyes sparkled in an instant, her pulse kicking into overdrive. She fixed Eden with an eager, hopeful stare. “The Brown family? You mean Mason’s here?”

Her excitement spilled over, barely held in check. “Eden, why didn’t you mention it earlier? Mason… I’ll go welcome him!”

She took off toward the door in a hurry, her cheeks glowing with that starry-eyed, bashful crush vibe.

“Miss Cooper!” Eden called after her urgently. “The Brown family car already drove off.”

Amanda stopped dead, spinning back around. “Drove off? But Mason didn’t even step inside!”

“I’m afraid so, Miss Cooper,” Eden said apologetically. “It just pulled over on the roadside near the estate’s main entrance. Our team didn’t even have time to greet them before it left.”

He shifted his respectful gaze back to Rolf. “From what I could tell… it seemed like the Brown family car was dropping off Sienna.”

“Sienna?” Rolf and the others blurted out in unison, stunned. He wondered, ‘Since when was Sienna tangled up with the Brown family?’

The older folks traded looks, and in each other’s eyes, they all caught the same gleam. “This late at night, Mason dropping off their darling girl?’ they thought. ‘Is this… meant to be?’

“What?” Amanda’s outburst came out as a piercing, unchecked squeak. Her coy expression locked in place, the mask of her sweet demeanor cracking at the edges.

She reined it in after that spike, her voice shaky. “I just mean… when did Sienna even meet Mason? She didn’t bother telling the family.”

Her face drained of color, but inside, she flat-out refused to buy it. She thought, ‘Mason hanging out with a wannabe Fairbank family princess from the wrong side of the tracks, some hick raised in the middle of nowhere?

‘And worse, this small-town nobody has wasted four years chasing after the Grant family’s heir like a lovesick puppy. A woman that low-class-Mason would never even know her, let alone drive her home!

‘He has to be stopping by to visit Grandpa, but then something came up last minute, and he bailed! Yes! That has to be it!’

Amanda repeated this mantra to herself nonstop, until her frayed emotions finally settled.

In a frenzy, she grabbed Eden’s arm and laid down the law. “Eden, mark my words: the moment Mason’s car appears anywhere around the Cooper family from now on, you alert me immediately! Understand?”

She’d been crushing on Mason forever-years upon years. And now… With Sienna back in the picture, her own position felt awkwardly precarious.

She thought, ‘Grandpa, Mom, and Dad all acts like Sienna has put a spell on them, bending over backward to favor her.

‘I need to snag Mason-ideally, marry into the Brown family. Only then… can I solidify my standing in the Cooper family and ensure I never lose this role that is rightfully mine alone!’

Eden glanced at the fingers digging deeper into his arm, his brow creasing slightly. He eased his arm free subtly and bowed his head. “Of course, Miss Cooper.”

Up on the second floor, Sienna walked into her ultra-girly room-drowning in lace and candy-pink vibes- without batting an eye.

She placed Theo’s gift on the desk, then pulled a specially tricked-out laptop from her canvas bag. Popped it

Her slender, pale fingers raced across the keyboard in a blur.

The screen lit up. She jumped right into the encrypted channel, bringing up a complex authentication interface.

If anyone else had peeked at that login screen, they’d have gasped in shock. It was the portal to the country’s

Sienna’s fingers danced like phantoms, pounding out an incredibly intricate command sequence. The screen shifted to a terminal dumping code in an endless waterfall.

She didn’t skip a beat, plunging in with hands moving at breakneck speed.

The display split into a labyrinth of code windows, packed with scrolling lines of dense script.
