Sophie’s excitement instantly faded when she saw the two people, and she frowned, her smile slipping away.
“Oh, Sophie, Declan’s got a point. Skye’s ride is seriously top–tier. Do you really know what you’re doing with a machine like that?” Cora chimed in, her tone all syrupy and fake.
As she eyed the Ghost, jealousy and greed sparkled in her gaze. “Don’t be reckless just because you’re trying to get back at Declan. If you mess up and get hurt, then go crying to the Brown family, Declan’s parents will end up getting him in trouble all over again because of you.”
As soon as Cora said that, Declan’s expression soured, clearly reminded of something unpleasant.
“Sophie, give me the keys!” Declan barked, irritation clear in his voice. “With the way your health is? You think you can handle something like that? I’m telling you, this is for your own good.”
He tilted his chin up and held out his hand, fully expecting Sophie to surrender the keys.
He wore an expression that said he was sure Sophie would give in without protest.
She pressed her lips together, frown deepening. “Declan, I don’t need you pretending you know what’s best for me, especially when you never bother to ask what I actually want.”
Back when Sienna started giving her advice, Sophie kept agonizing over whether she could let go of ten years‘ worth of feelings and habits. She wondered if she was really capable of dropping Declan and everything she’d obsessed over for the past decade.
But now, looking right at Declan, it hit her that something she never expected.
She felt absolutely nothing, not even the slightest stir in her heart.
Maybe she wasn’t as attached to this relationship as she always thought she was.
“Sophie?” Declan blurted out, his voice sharp with disbelief.
He never expected Sophie to turn him down again, right to his face.
His expression soured. “You really think pulling this is going to mess with me?”
‘What is he even talking about?‘ Sophie frowned hard, still having no clue what Declan was trying to say.
‘I just don’t want to give away Sienna’s gift to anyone,’ she thought stubbornly.
If Declan ever got his hands on the keys to the Ghost, she knew for sure he’d never return them.
“Forget it, Declan. If Sophie doesn’t want to loan us the Ghost, let’s not force it,” Cora said, her voice dripping with fake concern. “After all, she’s the Brown family’s golden girl–definitely not someone we should cross. We’d better just leave…”
“Leave? Who said we’re leaving?” Declan snapped, his face dark with humiliation.

Declan glared icily at Sophie, teeth grinding. “Sophie, this is your last chance. Give me the keys now. And make sure Cora gets a motorcycle as badass as the Ghost–consider it your compensation. Otherwise, don’t bother hoping I’ll ever speak to you again.”
‘Does she seriously think she can mess with me by playing these little games?‘ Declan scoffed to himself.
A pampered princess like her, that’s all she’s got,‘ he sneered inwardly.
When Cora heard Declan mention a motorcycle as tricked out as the Ghost, her eyes instantly lit up greedy excitement.

Still, she gave a prim little smile. “It’s not like I really wanted anything from Sophie anyway, but… just for the sake of you two making up, I guess I’ll just have to accept it.”
Sophie’s usually sweet and delicate face turned cold.
Back then, she never really thought much of it. She had money to burn, and as long as Declan was happy, she’d drop millions–even tens of millions–without a second thought.
She used to go out of her way to please Declan.
Every month, she’d spend at least ten million dollars on his friends, Cora included.
And that was just the tip of the iceberg–whatever she spent on Declan himself was a whole other story.
But now that her heart was completely calm, Sophie finally saw things for what they were.
It hit her that the realization was sharper than ever.
The way she used to act was so obviously messed up.
‘Just how blind and clueless was I back then?‘ Sophie wondered, her thoughts edged with self–mockery and disbelief.
Sophie scoffed, clearly annoyed. “Declan, do you even realize what the Ghost is worth? 30 million dollars wouldn’t even guarantee you could get one. And now you expect me to just get Cora a motorcycle that’s on the same level?”
She gave a cold, mocking laugh. “Even if I was crazy enough to give it, would you two even dare take it?”
Sophie’s mocking words struck Declan like a slap to the ego. Biting back his frustration, he snapped, “Whatever, keep it if you want!”
Humiliated, he yanked Cora’s hand. “Cora, we’re out of here!”
Cora had absolutely no intention of leaving. Her eyes were practically glued to that bike.
‘A motorcycle like that? We’re talking 30 million dollars, easy!‘ she thought.
Even if it wasn’t the exact same tricked–out model, snagging a motorcycle worth over ten million bucks would still be a dream come true.

Chapter 90
Just flip it and cash out–no–brainer.
She’d go from average to multi–millionaire overnight.
Cora still tried to speak up, wanting to convince Declan to stay.

But Declan yanked her along, moving fast and sneering as he went. “She needs to get it through her head. She’s the one who can’t let go of me, not the other way around. Throwing a fit in front of me? Hah, as if anyone else would ever put up with her spoiled princess attitude except me!”
Cora thought about it and had to admit he was right.
Sophie couldn’t live without Declan. For him, there was nothing she wouldn’t give.
Something as simple as a 30–million–dollar bike? Sophie wouldn’t even hesitate.
As they thought this way, they both picked up their pace and hurried off.
But as they hurried away, Cora started to realize something strange.
There wasn’t a single sign of anyone following. Sophie wasn’t coming after them at all.
‘Wait, Sophie didn’t even care to chase us?‘ Cora thought, a flicker of panic in her chest.
‘Seriously? How could this be happening?‘ she wondered, unsettled and at a loss.
Their pace slowed, and as they shot each other a look, both started to get a little nervous.
Declan suddenly got a bad feeling and couldn’t help but sneak a look back.
Declan was stunned.
Sophie wasn’t chasing after him or begging forgiveness.
Instead, she was already straddling the Ghost, laughing and talking up a storm with Sienna like he didn’t even
matter.
She looked every bit like she was about to rev the Ghost and tear off onto the track, totally lost in her own excitement–like he’d disappeared from her world entirely.
‘She’s acting like I don’t even exist,‘ Declan thought, his heart dropping at the realization.
‘Did she seriously just ignore me completely?‘ The shock hit him hard, unable to process how little Sophie seemed to care.
Declan stood frozen, panic clear on his face. One could see the fear creeping in around his eyes.
‘What the hell is happening?‘ Declan wondered, mind whirling in confusion and disbelief.
