Chapter 95
When did I ever say I liked Cora? I’ve always told you, I only see her as my little sister!” Declan snapped.
Typical women are always just jealous, Declan thought to himself.
7sn’t Sophie just making a scene to try and force me to admit there’s something between us? Declan wondered.
Declan’s face turned cold. “Sophie, stop making a scene! I promised you before, on your coming–of–age party, I’d grant you whatever wish you wanted most.”
He emphasized the word “wish,” his tone laced with a threat. “If you keep acting like this, forget about your wish. I won’t even show up at your coming–of–age party!”
Sophie replied coldly. “Oh. Relax, I wasn’t planning to invite you anyway.”
The Brown family would throw her a lavish coming–of–age party for sure.
Given the Cooke family’s low status, without Sophie’s say–so, they’d never even make it past the Brown family’s front gate.
Sophie was done arguing with Declan, so she moved closer to Sienna, choosing to ignore him completely.
“You…” Declan’s expression darkened, his face contorted with barely restrained fury.
Just then. Ernest walked up, flipping Shadow’s car card in his hand, his chin tipped up with confidence.
He spoke to Sophie, but his eyes locked fiercely onto Sienna. “The Challenge is on. I, riding Shadow, challenge Ghost.”
“Challenge accepted, Sienna said, her tone ice–cold.
She positioned herself protectively in front of Sophie, casting a frosty glance. “Under the Lamp Order rules, as the challenger, if you lose, you don’t just hand over your car. You’ll have to let Phantom Bay’s tattoo artist stamp the brand of defeat–Loser–onto your left arm.
“And then, right here on the track, you’ll bow before everyone and perform the ritual of defeat–the loser’s ceremony
Her crimson lips curled with playful disdain as she shot a mocking look. “These rules aren’t news to you, are they, Mr. Grant?”
Ernest’s face flickered with surprise.
He hadn’t counted on Sienna having the rules down pat.
His eyes narrowed, staring at the girl in front of him–calm, sharp, and openly taking her stand against him.
She was ice–cold, utterly indifferent to him.

For four years. Sienna had always played the underdog around him, never stepping out of her place.
She was like a fish who needed him to survive.
But now, Sienna was sharper than ever, cutting him open and leaving him raw and bleeding inside.
Ernest felt all kinds of things churning in his chest–bitter, restless, and downright vexed.
Ernest gritted his teeth. “Yeah, since I picked the Lamp Order, I’ll play by every damn rule.”
Sienna smiled, nodding in satisfaction. “Alright, I’ve got one more bet to add. If you lose, you’ll have to move on your knees for every length you lose, and with every single step, you have to shout at the top of your lungs. I’m a loser‘ all the way to the finish line.”
“What? You can’t be serious. This is way over the line!” Jessica couldn’t stand Sienna acting all high and mighty.
Cora shot Sophie a sour look, clearly annoyed. “You guys are obviously making things harder on purpose–is this just some lame excuse to back out of the race?”
Sienna’s gaze was icy, her voice cool and indifferent. “Can’t handle it? Then get lost.”
She flicked her gaze, eyes raised with mocking challenge, at the blazing light beside Ernest.
“Phantom Bay isn’t your damn playground. The light’s lit; the challenge is set–fight or admit you’re beaten and get out,” Sienna snapped, voice hard as steel.
Ernest’s eyes went cold.
He stared at Sienna for a long moment before finally speaking, his voice icy and unyielding. “Fine, I accept your extra terms. Just don’t regret it when the time comes.”
“Deal, Sienna replied, her lips curling into a confident smirk.
Sophie’s eyes sparkled wide, almost gobsmacked. “Wow! Sienna, you’re really taking things to the next level, huh?”
Just the thought of seeing Ernest down on his knees and yelling, “I’m a loser!” with every step–now, that was a scene she could get behind.
Sophie batted her lashes with playful mischief. “Can I add… them to the bet too?”
She playfully pointed at Declan and Cora.
“Well, that’s only if you actually win,” Cora said, forcing a mocking smile. “Sophie, your friend really believes in you. I can’t wait to see your so–called driving skills–just try not to embarrass Ghost, that iconic car. Let’s hope you can actually live up to its reputation.”
“Or maybe you want Mr. Fuller to race for you instead?” Declan sneered. “You don’t seriously think that just because Mr. Fuller beat Ernest once, lightning’s going to strike twice, do you? Sophie, it’s not too late to back down. Do you even know who Ernest brought with him to represent hiShadowline Club today?”

“That guy has swept all the major tracks in Orlathis City in just two days. Nobody questions he’s the new rookie king!
“And he’s got a vicious rep–totally ruthless. Once he gets on the track, he races like he’s got nothing to lose, and he doesn’t hold anything back.
“But you? You’re just some spoiled little princess. If you get on the same track as him, you’ll be lucky to leave in one piece–crippled, if not worse!”
‘Rookie king?‘ Sophie wondered, a tense frown creasing her brows.
Her fingers instinctively tightened around Sienna’s arm. ‘Sienna…‘
If that rookie king really drove like Declan said—with reckless aggression–then stepping onto the track would mean bracing for a brutal crash.
Getting slammed was almost a guarantee.
Sophie’s reaction was just what Declan wanted. He gave her a smug look. “Sophie, this is your last shot. Get down and beg me, apologize to Cora, and maybe—if I’m feeling generous—I’ll step in and race for you, all for old times‘ sake!”
“Just zip it!” Sophie shot Declan a look of pure exasperation, her eyes cold and sharp. “Declan, who said you get a say in my life? You’re nothing but a lapdog, always wagging your tail and begging for attention. Step in for me? Seriously? Do you even have the guts–let alone the skill–for that?”
“Sophie!” Declan burst out, disbelief and anger packed in his voice.
