In the shadows of the maintenance department, Declan glared at Sophie’s and Sienna’s departing figures, his eyes swirling with a storm of emotions.
Sophie used to trail after me the moment I showed up, always eager for my attention like a little puppy. But now, she couldn’t care less-she didn’t even glance in my direction,’ he thought.
He couldn’t help but recall the jeering from his buddies earlier. “Declan, didn’t you say… You had the Brown family’s heiress wrapped around your finger? So why is she completely ignoring you now?”
“Didn’t you say you’d got that rich girl on a leash like a dog? Funny, looks like you’re the one getting treated like a dog here.
“Declan, didn’t you always brag to us about how unbeatable you were at handling women? Well, I’ve seen it for myself today… You really are one of a kind!”
Declan was speechless. Every word of mockery landed like a slap across his face, shattering the carefully crafted image he had built for himself over all these years — completely and mercilessly.
To make things worse, Cora kept pestering him, nagging, “Declan, quickly apologize to Sophie! She’s totally into you, and she’s just angry right now. If you say sorry, she’ll definitely forgive you!”
Declan’s face darkened. ‘Apologize to Sophie? Dream on! What have I done wrong?
It’s obvious that Sophie was the one making a scene from the beginning. She was trying to force me into this! If I bowed even once, wouldn’t that let her trample all over me?
‘I’ll never let her get her way! But Cora has a point-Sophie’s head over heels for me. As long as Sienna doesn’t lead Sophie astray, she’ll be putty in my hands again, Declan thought, his confidence resurging.
Declan swept his gaze across the maintenance department, a flicker of manic anticipation revealed in his
eyes.
Ten minutes later, under the watchful eye of the Phantom Bay race officials, the maintenance crew finished up all the standard checks on the motorcycles.
Taking advantage of a brief shift rotation in the maintenance department – and relying on his familiarity with the place, especially its layout and blind spots in the surveillance – he quietly slipped inside.
His gaze landed on the sleek silver-and-black “Phantom” parked on the platform, his eyes flickered with a trace of viciousness and malice.
He pulled from his pocket a multi-purpose tool he always carried for modifying motorcycles, and with rough yet practiced movements, pried open the side cover. Then he unscrewed a palm-sized bottle and poured the liquid inside into the fuel tank.
When the entire bottle was emptied, a twisted, satisfied smile spread across Declan’s face. Even if Sienna was about to face Crow and was doomed to lose, he would still want to make her pay for manipulating Sophie.
‘Once Sienna, the bitch, is out of the way, Sophie will go right back to being the clueless puppet I control, just

As time ticked by, the electrifying music of the Light the Lamp Challenge suddenly blared to life, signaling the official start of this rare, once-in-a-year event.
The six motorcycles, each checked by the maintenance crew, paraded across the massive screens all around the stadium, one after another.
One by one, the six riders strode up to their motorbikes and rode them toward the starting line, putting them on display for everyone to see. Sienna walked up to the Ghost and placed her hand steadily on the handlebars.
Meanwhile, in the best spot in the spectator stands, Miles nearly jumped to his feet and burst out, “Mason, that idiot tampered with Miss Cooper’s fuel tank, and she’s unaware! We need to tell her right now!”
‘If Sienna really takes that Ghost onto the track… If anything happens out there, that motorcycle could wreck her for life-or worse, Miles fretted.
‘And on top of that, we’ve got that rookie king called Crow, just waiting for his chance to strike,’ Miles thought, panic mounting.
Anyone could see Sienna was in serious trouble right now – the danger was off the charts. This race was rigged from the very beginning; fair play was never even an option.
Miles was jumping out of his skin with worry, but Mason’s gaze was locked with unwavering intensity on Sienna’s tall, slender silhouette, poised beside the Ghost.
Not a hint of emotion flickered across her striking, icy features —she looked calm and completely unbothered.
To her, this life-or-death race seemed like nothing more than a child’s game. Mason’s gaze was cold, but when it landed on Sienna, it softened. A knowing smile tugged at his lips when he said, “No need. She’s aware.”
Miles blinked in surprise. “Wait, Miss Cooper is aware? How could she possibly know?” he asked.
Mason didn’t answer him. He just kept his deep, burning gaze fixed on Sienna. Miles scratched the back of his head and followed Mason’s gaze.
Sienna, standing by the Ghost, her eyes lowered in a relaxed, unbothered manner as she examined the motorcycle. A faint edge of chilly mystery beneath her gaze.
She bent forward slightly, her slender pale fingers casually brushing across an extremely hidden connection point beneath the motorcycle’s head. The movement was so natural and looked like her hand just happened to pass by.
Subsequently, she swung her long leg up and hopped onto the motorcycle. Those long, slender legs wrapped in cargo pants stole the show-every eye in the place was glued to her.
The crowd broke out in cheers and excited shouts all around her. With the crowd roaring around her, nobody caught Sienna’s subtle move-nobody but Mason.

Six sleek, extravagantly luxurious race cars lined up side by side at the starting line, their engines roaring in unison, ready to burst into action.
For this round of the Light the Lamp Challenge, Ernest wasn’t pulling any punches, for he was determined to claim the Ghost, whatever it took.
Crow, riding the Shadow he had borrowed from Gloria, took the far-right position. Ernest had even brought along three of his club’s top riders to compete alongside him.
And despite his injured hand, Ernest himself was out there on the track. With Sienna, that made six riders in total. Sienna and Ernest were right in the middle; their motorcycles were parked side by side.
