Forsaken Until My Last Breath novel Chapter 27

Chapter 27

“Frank, what are you doing?”

Rebecca knocked and entered the room, finding Frank bent over his desk with medical books spread open. She asked curiously.

“Studying your condition.”

Frank curtly replied without looking up. He always maintained that detached demeanor.

Since arriving in England, Rebecca had grown noticeably livelier. Every day at the manor’s stables, her figure could be seen riding. The castle’s staff all adored this visitor from afar. When inspiration struck, she’d even sketch portraits

for them.

Whether Rebecca rode horses or painted, Frank remained watching nearby-always within her line of sight whenever she glanced back. Seeing his focused research now stirred warmth in Rebecca’s chest.

Yet with her loved ones gone, her obsession with survival had faded. She turned toward the window, softly saying, “Don’t trouble yourself over me, Frank. I understand my own body. A month has passed… having months to live is enough.”

Frank finally lifted his gaze. Silhouetted against the window light, Rebecca stood looking outward when his thoughts escaped unfiltered. “But I want you to live longer. As long as I breathe, I won’t give up on that.”

Frank belonged to the prodigy type-otherwise, he wouldn’t have achieved such remarkable medical expertise at such

a young age.

He’d dedicated himself entirely to medicine, never sparing energy for romantic entanglements.

Yet around Rebecca, he couldn’t suppress the peculiar feelings growing within him.

Since diagnosing her severe illness, he’d poured most of his energy into researching her condition, working day and night without rest.

Now, facing Rebecca’s utter lack of vitality, the tender feelings he harbored burst through his restraint.

Meeting Frank’s clear gaze, Rebecca paused briefly before offering a faint smile. “Dr. Frank, don’t trouble yourself. Once the truth surfaces and debts are settled, it’ll be time for me to go. I’m content with the life I’ve had—it’s enough.”

Her loved ones were gone. She’d long been weary, let alone enduring this existence with an ailing body.

He stared intently at Rebecca, insisting, “I’ll find a way.”

Rebecca glanced at him, shaking her head as she softly whispered, “Dr. Frank… I’m sorry.”

“Even if you found a solution, I won’t cooperate. Living feels painful and exhausting for me.”

The faint glimmer in the woman’s eyes seemed ready to vanish any moment. Her every word revealed her desire to die, leaving Frank speechless for a long while.

After speaking, Rebecca gently closed the door and left the room.
