Forsaken Until My Last Breath novel Chapter 8

Chapter 8

Rebecca’s tears fell like rain, heart-wrenching pain flooding her chest. It’s all her fault! Nicole had clearly been acting strange, but she hadn’t noticed!

Rebecca dashed out of the ward, raced downstairs, and shoved through the crowd. Each step grew heavier as she got

closer.

Memories of Nicole caring for her flashed through her mind. When Rebecca saw the blood covering Nicole, her breathing hitched. She spat blood with a gasp, vision blacking out as she collapsed.

When her eyes opened again, Angela’s worried gaze met hers. “Rebecca, please get checked out?”

Rebecca struggled upright, throwing off the covers. Softly, she said, “Angela, I’m fine. I’m going home to get clothes for Nicole and Michael.”

In the hospital corridor, Rebecca saw Vincent gently supporting Susan. Ice flashed in her eyes.

Vincent looked up at Rebecca approaching-expressionless, utterly still. He paused. “Rebecca?”

Ignoring him, Rebecca lunged forward and slapped Susan hard. She grabbed Susan’s hair, smashing her face against the wall.

Susan struggled, sobbing. “You’re insane! Vincent, help me! It hurts!”

Vincent’s face instantly turned icy as he wrenched Rebecca’s hand away and shoved her aside. “Have you lost your mind?” he snapped.

Thrown off balance by his force, Rebecca slammed to the ground. Her head struck the wall, dizziness washing over her before pain engulfed her entire body. Uncontrolled tears streamed down her face.

She slowly rose to her feet, her eyes reflecting the chilling image of this heartless man.

Vincent’s hand involuntarily clenched. He took a step forward, but the barely audible sobs from Susan behind him. made the flicker of concern vanish instantly from his face.

Vincent’s voice dropped to a glacial tone. “Apologize to her, and this ends now!”

Behind him, Susan touched her stinging cheek, a flash of venomous malice crossing her eyes.

Meeting Vincent’s cold, impatient gaze, Rebecca looked away, her eyes settling on distant passersby. Weariness filled her voice. “I’ll apologize… if you agree to the divorce.”

Fury blazed in Vincent’s eyes. He grabbed Rebecca’s chin, his voice a low growl. “I told you never to mention divorce again! If you want Patrick to stay in school, you will never bring this up again.”

Susan clenched her fists, hatred burning in her eyes as she stared at Vincent’s retreating back. Her hand drifted to her

stomach, her gaze filled with sinister intent.

Vincent’s phone rang. He glanced at the screen-an important business partner calling.

He released Rebecca’s arm and stepped aside to answer.

Seeing Vincent move away, Susan approached Rebecca with venom. “You cursed jinx. Your parents died, your brother died, Michael and Nicole died too. Should your sister-in-law and nephew be next?”

Rebecca’s pupils contracted violently. She seized Susan’s throat, enunciating each word: “If you touch them, I will kill you!”

“Rebecca, let go!” A man’s furious roar came from behind. Then came a sharp crack as Rebecca’s wrist snapped under his grip:

She clenched her teeth in silence, tears silently streaming.
