From a Wrong Turn to Mr. Right novel Chapter 285

"..."

She really should've kept her mouth shut.

Ethan Carter shot her a teasing smile, then gave her a quick kiss. "Think it over, Liv. I’ll be waiting."

Olivia Bennett looked up at him, his gentle grin reflected in her eyes. Her thoughts tumbled around before settling into one simple word. "Okay."

Ethan laced his fingers through hers. "Come on, let’s head home."

He helped her up, and they walked out together.

As they strolled toward the car, Olivia said, "I’m going to my parents’ place tomorrow."

Ethan nodded. "Alright."

The next day, just before noon, Ethan drove Olivia to Damian Franklin’s house—a big, sunlit place at the edge of town.

Damian heard the car and came out with Beatty, her mom, right on his heels.

"Hey, Dad. Hey, Mom," Olivia called out, and Ethan echoed with a warm, "Hi, Dad. Hi, Mom."

Damian smiled wide, while Beatty hurried over and hugged Olivia. "Olivia, I’ve missed you! It’s been ages."

Olivia chuckled, knowing it’d only been two days. "I’ve just been busy, that’s all."

Beatty grinned. "So, you’re here to hang out with me today?"

"Yep," Olivia said, smiling back.

Beatty’s face lit up. "Damian bought some treats—let me go grab them!"

She turned to dash inside, but Damian gently caught her arm. "No need to rush, honey. Olivia came just to see you—she’s not going anywhere."

Beatty nodded obediently. "Okay."

Damian kept an arm around her. "Let’s go in together."

He led Beatty inside, leaving a moment of privacy for Ethan and Olivia.

Olivia glanced up at Ethan, giving her usual reminder, "Drive safe, alright?"

Ethan gazed down at her, his eyes soft. "I’ve got a work dinner tonight, so I’ll be late."

"That’s fine," Olivia said, pausing before adding, "You don’t have to come back tonight if it’s too much—I’ll just sleep here."
