From a Wrong Turn to Mr. Right novel Chapter 302

He was meeting Mason Bennett for the very first time.

After a short encounter, only one phrase came to mind: “Flexible as a Franklin.”

No matter how people treated him, Mason always greeted everyone with that same bright, easy-going smile.

Even when those embarrassing photos surfaced and the whole room was buzzing with gossip and barely concealed snickers, he never lost his polite, gracious manner.

By the end, when nobody bothered to save face and stuck around, Mason still managed to see them off cheerfully, all smiles and kind words.

If he hadn’t already heard the truth about Mason from Damian Franklin and Olivia Bennett, he might’ve been fooled himself.

Being “flexible as a Franklin” wasn’t necessarily an insult.

But when Mason Bennett embodied it, it became downright damning.

Damian leaned in, his tone flat. “He’s the kind of guy who’ll do anything for personal gain.”

He’d once smiled at Damian’s face, but stabbed him in the back when it suited him, nearly costing Damian his life.

And now, Mason wore that same polite mask, but Damian was sure he was holding a grudge deep down.

He’d screw over his own brother—so what hope did anyone else have?

Lance Carter agreed, his brow furrowed. After a pause, he asked, “So, what’s next?”

Damian drummed his fingers lightly on his knee, a cold glint in his eyes. “We wait. They’re bound to tear themselves apart. Carmen Gates isn’t exactly a pushover. Once she finds out about Mason’s little mistress on the side, she won’t let that slide. I’ve had someone watching that woman—she’s our next move.”

Lance nodded. “Know your enemy, right? That’s the only way to win. We need to study them.”

Damian gave a bitter laugh. “If I really knew them, I wouldn’t have ended up like this twenty years ago.” His gaze flicked to the passenger seat. “It’s Olivia who understands them.”

She’d grown up in the Bennett family, learning to read their moods, forced to figure out everyone’s character just to survive.
