From a Wrong Turn to Mr. Right novel Chapter 306

“I don’t care what’s going on between you and that woman. You need to deal with her and that kid, Mason. For the rest of your life, you’re only allowed to have one child under your name—Lavinia.”

Her words hit the room like a gavel.

Lavinia Bennett had never seen her mother like this before. For a moment, she just stared in shock.

Mason Bennett’s gaze flickered. He paused for a couple of seconds, jaw clenched tight before he finally ground out, “Alright. I’ll handle it.”

“I want to see results.”

She made it clear—she didn’t trust him at all.

Mason just nodded, “Fine.”

Carmen Gates closed her eyes, feeling utterly drained. For a second, she swayed, like she might just collapse.

She drew in a shaky breath and turned to her daughter. “Lavinia, help me upstairs.”

Lavinia nodded quickly and reached out to steady her.

Together, they climbed the stairs. Each step echoed dully in the tense silence. Mason’s hands were balled into fists, a dangerous, furious glint in his eyes.

Daniel Gill spoke up, “Dad, do you need me to do anything?”

Mason shot him a look, obviously not in the mood. “No.”

He waved Daniel off and started toward the door. But then, as if thinking better of it, he stopped and frowned at his son. “Did you get any leads on what happened today?”

Daniel shook his head. “Nothing unusual so far. I’ll keep digging.”

Mason’s frown deepened, his brow pinched so tight it looked like he could crack a walnut between them. “Check everything. I want to know exactly who’s behind this.”

Whoever dared to cross him was going to regret it.

Daniel nodded. “Got it.”
