From a Wrong Turn to Mr. Right novel Chapter 320

She swiped her finger across the screen, and Adelina Lane’s voice came through, warm and a little anxious. “Olivia, you and Ethan aren’t back yet?”

“We’re back! Just got here—we’ll be in soon,” Olivia Bennett replied, glancing up at Ethan Carter with a hint of guilt in her eyes.

Adelina, of course, didn’t notice. “Good, glad you’re home. I’ll let you go.”

“Thanks, see you soon.”

The call ended.

Ethan grinned and reached over, giving her cheek a gentle pinch. “Why do you look so guilty?”

Olivia blinked innocently. “I’m not guilty.”

She looked so wide-eyed and honest, you’d never guess she was the same girl who’d shot him that sheepish look during the call.

Ethan reached out, his thumb brushing lightly over her lips. “They’re soft,” he murmured, his tone teasing.

Olivia’s cheeks flushed pink, and she batted his hand away. “They’re supposed to be soft. Unlike your mouth—it’s always got a comeback.”

Ethan laughed. “I’m not so sure about that.”

“Trust me.”

“If you say so,” he said, taking her hand in his. “Maybe you should feel again—just to be sure.”

Olivia rolled her eyes, refusing to take the bait. “No way! We need to go—if we’re any later, Mom’s going to come looking for us.”

Ethan chuckled, pressing a quick kiss to her cheek before finally letting her go.

He grabbed the gift box, closed the trunk, and turned to her. “Ready?”

“Let’s go,” she said, and together they walked up toward the house.

Adelina Lane was waiting at the front door. Seeing them approaching, she visibly relaxed.

“What’s that you’ve got?” she asked, eyeing the box in Ethan’s hands.

“A gift for Olivia,” he replied.

“Oh, nice,” Adelina said, not pressing further. “The gifts you brought back are by your bedroom door. The ones from me, your dad, and Grandma are all there too. Just take them into your room when you go up.”
