From a Wrong Turn to Mr. Right novel Chapter 361

He stood up, pressing his fingers to his temples as if to chase away a headache.

Exhausted, but with a strange sense of relief, like finally setting down a heavy suitcase after a long trip.

Shirley Carter snapped out of her daze, lifting her chin to glare at him. Her voice was steady, unyielding as ever. "I'm not signing the papers."

Hans Dale’s brow furrowed. He acted as if she hadn’t spoken at all. “The divorce papers will be with you tomorrow.”

“Hans, don’t push your luck,” Shirley shot back, her eyes flashing, voice sharp with anger.

Hans looked at her coolly, voice even. “Fine. If you don’t want a divorce, I can’t promise everything will be left to Daisy.”

Shirley's face paled.

He knew exactly where to hit her where it hurt.

He was threatening her with Daisy, their daughter.

Shirley’s knuckles went white, her jaw clenched so tight her words came out through gritted teeth. “Fine. Hans Dale. You’re really something.”

Every word sounded like it was dragged out of her, loaded with fury.

Hans said nothing, just lowered his gaze, icy and unmoved.

Shirley bit down on her lip, and after a long, painful silence, she forced out two words, her voice dry and hoarse. “I’ll sign.”

“You can’t!”

The sudden voice sliced through the tension in the room like a knife, stopping both of them in their tracks.

Shirley and Hans turned in unison to see Daisy Dale, pale as a sheet, staggering into the living room. Her eyes were rimmed with red, still sparkling with tears.

She looked heartbreakingly vulnerable, like a little kid lost at a crowded fair.

“Daisy…” Both parents spoke at once, startled and worried.
