From a Wrong Turn to Mr. Right novel Chapter 362

“There hasn’t been any love between us for a long time. Staying together is just painful.”

“That can’t be true!” Daisy Dale looked up at her father, disbelief written all over her face. “You two used to get along so well. Please, Dad… don’t get a divorce, okay?”

Hans Dale’s jaw tightened. “Grown-up things are complicated, Daisy. It’s not as simple as you think. This isn’t something you need to worry about.”

His voice left no room for argument—firm and final.

Daisy froze, her eyes rimmed red, tears trembling on her long lashes. She stared at her father, pleadingly.

She’d always looked at him like that whenever she wanted something—puppy-dog eyes, soft voice. Normally, Hans would cave.

But not this time. Not when Shirley Carter had crossed the line, not when the hurt was still so fresh. Hans had finally realized Shirley was never able to let go. He couldn’t risk going through all that again.

He glanced at Daisy, a flicker of guilt and pain in his eyes, but then looked away—his gaze settling on Shirley. “I have to go. The divorce papers will be delivered tomorrow.”

And with that, Hans turned and walked out, his tall frame disappearing through the front door without a second’s hesitation.

Shirley’s voice rang out, surprisingly steady. “I want to see both the divorce papers and your written promise about the property. No empty promises.”

Hans knew she was talking about his assets being left to Daisy. He didn’t protest—just nodded, then left without looking back.

Once he was gone, Daisy’s tears spilled over. Shirley gently wiped them away with a tissue. “Come on, sweetheart, don’t cry. Your eyes are already puffy—you’ll feel even worse in a bit.”

She sounded calm, almost cold, as if she’d already made peace with it all.

Daisy stared at her, her voice small and shaky. “Is it really over? Isn’t there anything we can do?”

Shirley lowered her eyes, silent.

“I’ll go talk to Dad,” Daisy blurted. “He’s just angry—he doesn’t really want a divorce. I’ll tell him I don’t care about the money—I just want you both to stay together…”

Her words tumbled out, desperate and frantic.
