From a Wrong Turn to Mr. Right novel Chapter 363

After the divorce, Shirley Carter was preparing to move out of the Dale family home and into her new place—the house Hans Dale had signed over to her.

It only took two days for Daisy Dale to realize, no matter how much she didn’t want to accept it, that her parents’ divorce was final.

Watching Shirley pack up her things, Daisy felt a wave of sadness crash over her, like she was about to drown in it. She bit her lip, eyes glistening, tugged on Shirley’s sleeve and whispered, “I want to come with you. I’ll move in too.”

She’d always been close to both her parents. But if she had to choose, it would be Shirley. Hans was always busy running the Carter Corporation, barely home, while Shirley was the one who spent time with her.

But Shirley shook her head, her expression firm. “No, honey, you have to stay here. Listen to me—this is your home, and you need to look after it. Don’t let anyone else take that from you.”

Daisy’s lower lip quivered as she pleaded, “Dad already said he won’t bring anyone else here. Please, Mom, I want to be with you.”

“No,” Shirley said, not budging an inch. “Maybe I let you have your way about other things, but this time you have to listen to me.”

“If you miss me, you can always come visit. But you’re not moving with me—you’re staying with your dad.”

She was determined, leaving no room for argument.

In the end, Daisy didn’t get to move with her mom.

By the time Olivia Bennett was fully recovered, it was just about time for baby Carey’s christening.

Carey was the first grandchild of the Carter family’s new generation, so Lance Carter and Adelina Lane were making a big deal out of it. They set a date for a proper celebration, inviting all the who’s-who in Cabinda. On the big day, guests poured in, and the Carter home was buzzing with excitement.

Olivia woke up early to get ready. Ethan Carter stood nearby, holding baby Carey and watching her.

After a month, Carey had lost that wrinkly newborn look. Her skin was soft and pale, like a peeled egg, and her big, bright eyes were all Olivia’s.
