From a Wrong Turn to Mr. Right novel Chapter 366

A bright, curious female voice chimed in, slicing through the chatter.

“Hey, have you guys ever met Ethan Carter’s wife? I swear, I’ve never even heard of her before.”

“Nope, but I did spot her once at the Baker family’s Christmas party. She’s actually pretty gorgeous.”

“How gorgeous are we talking? Movie-star-level gorgeous?”

“Well, maybe not quite a goddess, but honestly, she’s better looking than most of the celebs you see on TV. When I saw her, I did a double take.”

“That’s weird, though. I mean, there are plenty of beautiful women around. Ethan Carter’s never been linked to anyone, not even a whisper of a scandal, and suddenly he’s married with a kid?”

“No idea. Maybe it was love at first sight?”

“Oh, please. Can you really picture Ethan Carter falling head over heels at first sight? Not a chance.”

“Exactly! I’m Lane, and I’d bet my favorite pair of boots the sky would fall before Ethan does something that impulsive.”

“I bet it’s about the baby. Think about it— with the Carter family’s status, there would’ve been a huge wedding if it really meant something to them. The only reason to skip all that is if the marriage isn’t a big deal and they just wanted the kid.”

“That actually tracks. There was zero news, then suddenly—bam, a baby. I bet she pulled some kind of move, got pregnant, and the Carters wanted a grandkid so they just let her in. Ethan probably doesn’t even like her, that’s why there was no wedding.”

“Yeah, and honestly, you’d have to be pretty clever to even get close to Ethan Carter, let alone have his child.”

“Right? She must be something else…”

The little gossip circle was practically crackling with energy, totally unaware that someone was listening from the balcony overhead.

Ethan Carter’s face had gone hard as stone, his jaw clenched tighter the more he heard. Olivia Bennett, on the other hand, seemed oddly entertained.

Well, it’s not every day you get to eavesdrop on people gossiping about you.

The voices downstairs faded as the women drifted away.

Ethan’s eyes were cold. “I’m going down there.”

“Don’t bother,” Olivia said, catching his sleeve. “They’re just talking. It’s harmless gossip.”

The worst they’d said was that she was a schemer.
