Caroline knew the soldiers had a tough job managing so many people, so she just nodded lightly, signaling that she would be more careful next time.

Still, she could not help feeling a little sympathy for Hannah and that poor little boy.

In her previous life, she had seen countless suffering children..

Tyler did not say much.

He just went back to sleep, clearly exhausted.

Caroline found that strange. Why was he always so tired lately?

He looked like he had not had a good night’s rest in days.

Later that night, Caroline decided to hit up the nearby warehouse for supplies before the soldiers got there.

Then she whispered to Raven, “Listen, If someone’s inside, lie down. If no one’s there, spin in a

Raven tilted his head, listening to the air for a few seconds before turning in a full circle.

Tyler was not home.

After a moment of thought, Caroline decided to leave Jet at home.

Even though she had already scared off trouble twice today, better safe than sorry.

Jet, if anyone comes looking for trouble, don’t talk. Just hide in the shadows and scratch their face if they come in.”

Jet’s eyes gleamed.

“Don’t worry, Human. Your warrior will complete his mission!”

She sighed. Maybe showing him all those dramatic anime episodes was not a great idea.

Now that there were more people around, Caroline moved more cautiously when heading downstairs.

Even so, she still ran into a few patrolling soldiers.

From that alone, she could tell how strict the shelter’s night management was.

Other than the patrols, the hallways were completely empty. When she asked, one of the soldiers told her that after ten o’clock, no one was allowed to go out. It was for the safety of everyone inside.

“Ms. Sinclair, there are mutated creatures out there. Please be careful,” one soldier said.

They all knew who she was now. Since she was one of the 66th–floor people, they did not stop her, just warned her.

Caroline smiled, patting Raven’s head. “Don’t worry, I’ve got him with me.”
