Over the past month, Caroline had already stockpiled more than enough food and daily necessities.
Honestly, the supplies in her storage space were enough to last her entire lifetime.
With Raven multiplied a hundred times over, she could still support them all!
The only problem was that the racks and water tanks she had ordered were delayed and would not arrive until tomorrow.
Once she got the tanks, Caroline would need to store as much clean water as possible. Otherwise, when the acid rain came, most of the world’s water sources would be contaminated, and clean water would become one of the most fiercely fought- over resources.
Then there was transportation.
Caroline had her eyes on two RVs and two heavy–duty off–road vehicles.
The dealership told her she would have to wait until Friday, and that was three days away.
However, with time running out and the apocalypse possibly arriving at any moment, even a single day felt unbearable.
She quickly called the dealership. To her surprise, they said the cars had just arrived and she could come pick them up.
Caroline and Raven rushed over, collected the vehicles, and immediately filled them up at a gas station,
She pumped the fuel herself, storing it directly into her space.
In fact, she had started doing this over a month ago, stopping at several gas stations each day and adding a few tanks at a time.
Now her space contained enough fuel to last for years,
She had also stockpiled wood and coal for stoves, piling them up like small mountains–enough to keep her safe through the deep freeze.
The next day, Caroline finally got the long–awaited water tanks and shelves.
The shop owner apologized for the delay and for making her come out in the rain.
Before she left, he gave her some extra small buckets made of anti–corrosive material, saying they might come in handy at her factory.
When Caroline saw the buckets, her eyes lit up–an idea sparked in her mind.
The owner had given her about 20, and she bought another 50 on top of that.
She wondered if these containers could hold acid rain.
Caroline knew one of the apocalypse’s secrets. In the early days, most people avoided acid rain at all costs.
However, after the natural disasters eased, some people developed mutations–gaining powers.
Without exception, every one of them had once been caught in the rain.
Those who never experienced it never mutated.
Even up until her death in her previous life, no one had discovered the reason behind it.
However, if she could save some acid rain… Maybe, later on, she could grant powers to those who otherwise never would have those powers.
With that in mind, Caroline headed to a nearby reservoir with her new water tanks.

Chapter 25 A River
By now, the sky was dark. Making sure no one was around, she jumped into the water.
As she swam, she began filling her storage space with clean water, imagining the tanks filling one by one.
Sure enough, a whirlpool formed around her, with Caroline herself at its center.
The water surged endlessly into the pendant at her chest.

However, even after soaking for more than half an hour, the whirlpool still had not stopped. The space was not full yet.
Exhausted, Caroline swam to shallower water and continued until she was too tired to move.
Eventually, she fell asleep right there in the reservoir.
When she opened her eyes again, it was the middle of the night.
