Lumina ran her fingers leisurely over his shoulder. “What’s the rush? I’m already in your bed, your men are posted outside, and there’s no way I’m getting out of here.”
Jurgen smirked. “And what if you decided to jump out the window?”
She laughed softly. “We’re on the tenth floor. I’m not about to risk my life for a dramatic escape.”
Jurgen studied her for a long moment, then brushed his palm across her cheek. “Fine. Don’t try any tricks with me. When I’m done with my shower, just wait and see how I deal with you.”
“I’ll be waiting, Mr. Harding,” she replied, her gaze teasing.
That look of hers drove Jurgen wild. Unable to resist, he hurried into the bathroom, and the sound of running water quickly filled the room.
As soon as he disappeared, Lumina’s smile faded. She ruffled her hair, smudged the lipstick at the corner of her lips, and pulled a can of pepper spray from her purse, tucking it into her sleeve. Quietly, she cracked open the hotel room door.
The moment she did, several of Jurgen’s bodyguards closed in, blocking her path with cold, impassive faces.
Lumina rushed forward, putting on a look of panic as she shrieked, “Please! Something’s wrong! Mr. Harding just collapsed!”
“What?”
Their expressions darkened. They didn’t buy it so easily and eyed her with suspicion.
She pressed on, voice urgent, “Does Mr. Harding have a heart condition? We were… together, and suddenly he clutched his chest, his eyes rolled back. He just passed out! I was terrified!”
Just half an hour ago, Lumina had noticed a small bottle of emergency heart medication beside Jurgen in his car. Her mind had worked fast—this was her chance.
All these bodyguards were personally picked by Jurgen, and no one outside the family knew about his illness. There was no way Lumina could have known—unless it was true.
She had to be telling the truth!
“I need to go in and give him first aid!”
“I’ll call Mr. Luther Harding right away!”
“What are you standing around for? Dial 911!”
Panic broke out among the bodyguards. Orders flew, everyone talking at once, chaos erupting in the hallway.
The commotion drew curious hotel guests, who cracked their doors open to witness the chaos.
It wasn’t long before the hotel manager arrived, wringing his hands in distress.
Meanwhile, inside the room, Jurgen finished his shower in high spirits. Rubbing his wet hair with a towel, clad in nothing but his boxers, he strutted out, eager to return to Lumina.
