A flush crept up Lumina’s cheeks, and a strange, uncomfortable heat unfurled between her thighs.
Before Xenon could say anything more embarrassing, she cut him off in time. “Alright, I get it.”
Cedric was, frankly, a complete enigma.
The man had an almost pathological obsession with cleanliness—if even a drop of coffee spilled on his desk, he’d order her to scrub it until it gleamed. Yet now, he’d done this for her without hesitation.
Something between them had shifted, just a little, compared to before.
Lumina tightened her grip on her water glass, mind painfully clear. If things kept on like this, it could only end badly.
Once Xenon left, Lumina picked up her phone and called Yadiel.
“How are you feeling?” Yadiel asked as soon as he answered.
“I’m much better,” she replied.
Lumina sighed, clenching her glass a little harder. “Yadiel, I’ve been thinking… Going abroad isn’t realistic. Relying on just one friend to help me, it’s nearly impossible.”
“So, where will you go?”
“I’ll move to Seaburg. It was my brother’s favorite city. I’ll find some quiet village on the outskirts, somewhere no one will look for me.”
“Alright.” Yadiel respected her decision. “I’ll reach out when I can, see if any of my friends might be able to help.”
But Lumina just laughed quietly. “I already have someone in mind.”
...
By the end of the weekend, Lumina was fully recovered and returned to work as usual.
That morning, she needed Cedric’s signature on several documents, so she gathered them and headed for his office.
