His Untamed Rose novel Chapter 47

The moment Yadiel slid into the passenger seat, Lumina’s words caught him completely off guard. He frowned. “Strange… You mean, romantically?”

Lumina propped her chin on her hand, her gaze following the blur of the city rushing past the window. “Maybe,” she murmured.

She couldn’t stop thinking about it—the easy familiarity between them, how Cedric always looked out for her, the way she’d once perched on Cedric’s lap when someone barged into his office…

All those memories tangled in her mind, leaving her restless and unsettled.

“By the way, I handed in my resignation this afternoon,” she said, nudging the car’s temperature up a notch. She changed the topic, her tone lighter. “Once I finish training the new deputy manager, I’ll be free at last, ready to embrace the luxurious life of unemployment.”

Yadiel chuckled at her choice of words. “You sound like an old lady, talking about retirement at your age. Was Cedric really willing to let you go?”

“Whether he’s willing or not, I have to leave.” Lumina absently did the math in her head. She was nearly a month pregnant already.

The transition would take at least another month. If she delayed any longer, there’d be no hiding her growing belly.

...

The next day, the office was buzzing with excitement.

First, Ms. Jardin had treated everyone to lattes, officially announcing her departure.

Second, the company had a new manager stepping in to take her place.

Lumina gathered her team in the conference room, leading in a petite young woman. “Let me introduce you all—this is your new supervisor, Tonia Locke.”

As the only daughter of the Locke family, Tonia’d grown up in luxury, her skin glowing with a healthy blush, and she stood poised and graceful, every detail about her immaculate.

Lumina had chosen her for a reason. She remembered at Kaelin’s birthday party, Tonia’s father, Finn Locke, had tried to set Tonia up with Cedric, only to be politely rejected.

Curious, Lumina had looked into Tonia’s background. Not only did she come from an influential family, but her academic and professional achievements were outstanding. There couldn’t be a more suitable candidate to take her place.

More importantly, the Locke family’s main business was based in Seaburg. If Lumina ever moved there, Tonia’s support would be invaluable.

“Hello, everyone! I’ve prepared a little gift for each of you,” Tonia said brightly. “I hope we’ll get along well from now on.”

Her vibrant, open personality quickly won over the team, but most people were more focused on expressing their reluctance to see Lumina go.
