Twasn’t sure how long I had been passed out but my eyes twitched and I woke up to the sunrays falling on my face.

Igroaned and slowly raised my hand to block the bright light out

And slowly opened my eyes to see a woman sitting beside me,

She was middle aged, had freckles on her face and was wearing a plain cotton gown.

“Oh, you are up,” she said, smiling brightly, but I only scooted away from her.

“Who are you?” I asked as she got up from beside me and picked a tray containing food.

My stomach rumbled at the smell of the food that wafted to my nostrils.

“You must be hungry. I brought some simple food for you.” She said.

I looked at her and the tray warily before looking around.

I was in some room, lying in a bed I wasn’t familiar with. The room had just a huge bed and basic furniture.

“Where am 12” I asked, and she answered.

“My name is Mary and I have been assigned to look after y

ryou.

Welcome to the Blackmanor estate.”

Blackmanor estate?

Where was that?

I felt my head throbbing as I tried to jog down my memory. I had been with lan and he had asked me to come somewhere with him.

Somewhere safe.

Was this the place he had been talking about?

Where was he?

I sat upright on the bed and realized my clothes had been changed into a soft, cotton gown.

“Did you change my clothes? Just tell me how I got here.”

I had so many questions.

Mary nodded, “Yes, I did. I was asked to look after you as I said.”

“Asked by who?” I repeated, eyeing the plate of food nervously.

I wouldn’t eat food offered by any random lady before figuring out where the heck I was.

“By our true King, Accidus.”

Thad never heard that name in my life,

My senses prickled, and I wondered if somebody had kidnapped me. I had to find out where I was for myself.

“Your food is going cold” She gestured at the plate but I shook my head.

“I am not hungry, but perhaps you can get some green tea for me?” I asked, quickly scanning the tray and spotting the absence of

tea.

Mary got up from her seat and nodded, “Of course. But I would advise you to not do anything strenuous. You might want to relax in

this room.

As if I was just going to sit here and let unknown people keep me trapped here.

Mary left the room, and I quickly got up to look out the window.

And my eyes went wide to see that I was high up in some stone tower. There were stone walls all around me.

I was in some ancient manor for all I knew.

I looked down and gulped nervously.

Even if I jumped down, I would end up with a few fractures and broken limbs. That wouldn’t help me at all in case somebody were

to chase me.

I sighed.

And I looked far ahead to notice a large water body surrounding the castle.

There was a freaking sea.

Where the hell was I exactly?

I looked around to see if the room had some of my stuff and was glad to see my purse. I hastily opened it and saw that my phone was in it along with the other stuff.

However, its battery was dead, so it was of no use to me.

I groaned and threw the bag aside. By that time, Mary had returned with a cup of green tea.

“Here is your green tea. IF you have a headache or body pain, I might also get you another concoction of dried herbs that will relieve the pain.”

Concoction?

I blinked and shook my head. “No thanks”

I tentatively took a whiff of the cup and, to that, Mary remarked.

“I have not mixed anything in your drinks or food, Miss. I am under strict orders to keep you satisfied.”

As if that mattered. Aher feeling certain that the tea was safe to drink, I finished it along with the bread and butter she had gotten.

The bread had gone a little limp, but it still tasted fine.

“So where is this King Aecidus of yours, and why did he bring me here?”

She gave me a pensive look

“I am a maid and the prince doesn’t share with me the reasons for him doing anything. However, I can guide you to his chambers once you feel fit enough to walk.”

Chambers?

What era was this woman living in?

She saw my bag thrown to the side and went to place it back on the side table.

“I am ready to meet your prince Aecidus,” I said, wiping my hands on the back of my gown, but she shook her head.

“This is not how you will be allowed in the royal court”

Royal court?

Did we still have those in today’s era?

Mary didn’t explain further, but only asked me to follow her through another door. The place was a little cold due to all the stone, but I was glad to see the dresses laid out in a corner.

They seemed longer than the thin gown I was wearing.

“You are supposed to only wear such clothes when you step out of your room.”

“Now you can head to the bathing chamber and clean yourself before putting on any of the clothes of your choice.”

1 let my eyes roam through the clothes.

They all looked very old, as if I had stepped into a forgotten era. I looked back at her as if to ask if that is what she really wanted me to wear, but when she stayed put, I sighed and got in the bathroom.

Thankfully, the water was hot, so I gladly scrubbed myself before stepping outside wrapped in a towel.

All of the dresses Mary had laid out for me were lacy and with frills. I would never be able to run in those heavy, baggy clothes.

“Isn’t there something less baggy? Something that won’t restrict my movements?” I asked Mary hopefully.

She gave me a small smile.

“I was told you might ask that”
