Killian held me close as 1 fumbled and rubbed my eyes to look in the direction of the forest again. There was no sign of the boy or those eyes
The boy…I had seen him a few times but the eyes just once. No, not once.
Thad seen those eyes before too.
When Martin had driven me to the forest, claiming he was hunting me, he had sent me running for my life.
I had seen those eyes then too.
But they had disappeared just like now.
“Let us get you inside,” Killian said, and he began leading me towards our room. And I didn’t argue.
I was still dazed by the incident with Igor. Killian noticed my slow speed and, without a word, bent down to put a hand under my knees.
I was lifted off the ground in an instant and collided against his hard chest. But it was far more comforting than being alone in this dark, eerier forest.
Killian’s smell was welcoming and warm, just like his touch. He radiated warmth and a sense of calm with his mere touch.
I had been missing this soft side of him ever since he decided to be my trainer on the grounds.
Every day, I would be up at the crack of dawn to train with him, and then he would send me off to the temple to work under the notorious Nina, who loved to bully me and Sarah.
My thoughts were branching in all directions, and I also recalled what Sarah had told me about him, about how he had stood for her and sem
the temple.
And that is when another thought struck me.
What if he had done the same thing to me?
What if he designed my day to be spent just with him and then in the temple for the entire day so that Martin or the other courtiers leave me alone?
Now that the thought popped up in my head, I could not help but wonder just how smoothly he had worked it out without letting me or anybody else realize how he was saving me, distancing me from those who could harm me.
As these thoughts kept churning in my head, I kept staring at his face. I had run outside to look for him, and when I finally found him, I automatically slipped into his arms.
All the hate and rage I had been feeling for him disappeared in an instant, and all I felt was an odd sense of comfort and security.
Was he truly such a smooth and witty talker who used just his tongue and brain to avert crisis? I had gotten so many examples of it already.
His face always looked handsome, but in the moonlight, he looked even more beautiful. I was not sure what else to call him, but his eyes, the perfect jawline and the light stubble sprinkled across his prominent cheekbones along with his alluring eyes were a perfect recipe for sin.
And adding to it, his kindness, thoughtfulness and wit made him truly irresistible.
“I know I am handsome. Feel free to gawk at me,” Killian said after I spent the entire amount of time it took him to reach our quarters.
My cheeks flamed, and I saw the hint of a smile appear on his lips. + immediately blurted out.
“I was looking for a scar. I saw blood on the carpet”

Chapter 83
He smirked. “That must be when I accidentally gave myself a paper cut. Nothing to worry about”
He dismissed my concern casually.
We had left the grounds long ago and had entered the castle, Killian didn’t even flinch or huff as he carried me all the way up from the grounds to our
room.
When we were finally outside the door, he pushed it open with his leg and walked inside to approach the bed.
“I believe you can loosen your hold now. The most you will fall on is a soft warm bed, not the cold hard floors of the castle.”
He said when I still continued to stare at him stupidly
and didn’t let go.
“You say you don’t lie to me, right?” I asked, and he nodded.
“I might omit some key details, my queen, but yes, that is correct,”
‘he answered.
I grabbed his collar in both my hands and demanded.
“What price are you paying for saving me and keeping me away
from all your
murderous siblings and nobles?”
My question caught him off guard because a pure look of surprise appeared on his face.
“What?” He asked.
“Answer me,” I demanded, and he gently removed my hands holding his collar tightly while sighing.
“You are tired. Go sleep”
“No, you tell me what the hell is going on in this place. Nobles plotting against me, the Crone is evading me, you are just making mefunkoffie grounds, and today I saw a few villagers sacrifice a young boy, saying that he was marked by some vicious creature in the Forbidden Forest. a pause as Killian raised an eyebrow before continuing.
“And the villagers think I have some magic wand that can make their worries go away when I dont even have a fucking wolf in me. I feel weak and powerless, and if I ever find Morwenna, I am going to snap her neck for disappearing without telling me anything about this so called curse or magic.
I went on and on, and Killian let me pour out all the frustration and stress I had accumulated over the days. He listened attentively as I spoke and spoke until I grew tired and just slumped down on the bed due to exhaustion.
“I am sorry you have to go through all this,” He said in an earnest voice, but that did little to calm my anger.
“First things first. Answer my previous question. What price did you pay for my safety? Why do you always choose tact and wit instead of power. I know you are not the oldest prince or the most powerful prince, but I have seen instances when the others cowered before you when you got really pissed off. You thought I didn’t notice how your cold stare made the others step back or how everybody panicked for a second when your eyes flared murderously. What is it that you are not telling me?”
Killian had a troubled look on his face.
“I want to tell you. I want to bare it all to you. But I can’t,” He sounded so helpless and desperate. His voice was raw, and his expressions vulnerable.
“Why?” I asked, my voice sounding raspy.
