A jolt ran through Carter.

How could Rhea be this vicious? She actually sent that thing to their house? How twisted could she possibly be?

Upon seeing Carter’s expression, Logan asked, “What’s with that look, Mr. Jamison? Weren’t you the one who insisted Ms. Ravelle carry the baby to term and give it to you? Well, here it is. And now you’re not happy?”

Carter exploded. “You’re all insane! Every last one of you!”

Rhea had lost her mind, and Nathan actually went along with her. There was clearly more to their relationship than met the eye.

It seemed that he had completely underestimated Rhea’s ability to seduce men. Nathan and George were practically at her beck and call.

Just then, Lauren doubled over and threw up violently.

Logan shot her a cold glance. “If that ‘baby‘ goes missing in six months, Mr. Ravelle will be following up with you.”

With that, he turned and walked out.

“Ms. Thayer, are you alright?” Scarlett quickly patted her back.

Carter didn’t even glance at the thing on the floor. “Get rid of it! Get it as far away from here as possible!”

Upon learning that it was Rhea’s baby, Devan didn’t show the slightest hint of disdain. He carefully placed it into a bag himself, found a small box to hold it, and buried it in a quiet spot.

Lauren’s eyes welled up with tears. “Do you think Rhea’s angry at me? Is that why she’s lashing out at you?”

“This has nothing to do with you. She’s just losing it! How dare she team up with other men to pull something like this on me!” Carter was seething.

Lauren tried to comfort him. “Calm down, Carter. I’m okay.”

“You should rest. I’m going out for a bit.” He wasn’t about to let Rhea get away with this.

After Carter left, Lauren took a long shower to wash off the disgust still crawling under her skin.

When she emerged, the smile was gone from her face. “Scarlett, get the things ready. We’re going to

“Rhea, I came to see you.”

It was Lauren. Rhea wondered what she was doing there.

However, Lauren didn’t even make it through the door before Logan stopped her. He stood there, his expression downright terrifying.

Standing at the door, Lauren said, “I just want to check on her.”

Logan and the other bodyguard didn’t move an inch.

Lauren glanced back at Scarlett, who hadn’t followed her, before saying, “Rhea, please let Carter go. He’s been through enough. If you’re angry, take it out on me instead. He’s the man I love the most. I won’t let anyone hurt him like this. I’m begging you.”

With a thud, she dropped to her knees. Tears streamed down her face as she pleaded.

Logan’s eyes narrowed. He had seen countless women pull the same scheming act back in Draventh.

Without warning, he raised his foot and stomped down hard on Lauren’s back. “If you want to kneel, then kneel properly. Your knees aren’t fully on the ground.”

Lauren cried out as pain shot through her knees and back.

She lowered her head, enduring it. “It’s okay. As long as this helps you feel better, I’ll take it. I know that losing the baby must’ve been painful, but… maybe it just wasn’t meant to be.”
