Lauren spoke first. “Rhea, you’re finally here. You were really too impulsive. Women shouldn’t hold such heavy grudges. Fortunately, Peter isn’t badly hurt. He’s just mad and needs a simple apology. You can still be friends after this.”
Zoe, Lauren’s friend, chimed in, “Exactly. Peter only said one bad word about you, and you caused him such trouble? What kind of friend does that?”
Carter stood there, staring at Rhea with calm eyes, seemingly expecting an apology. But after three quiet minutes, she didn’t say a single word.
Just then, Rhea’s phone rang. It was Gabriel calling. She answered it, saying, “Hello?”
“Ms. Ravelle, we’re waiting for you at the hospital entrance,” Gabriel said politely.
Rhea smirked slightly. “I’m already in the ward.”
“Got it! We’ll come up right away!”
After ending the call, she surprisingly took a seat on the couch, still silent.
Everyone’s expressions shifted between confusion and anger. Was this really the attitude of someone apologizing?
After another two minutes, Peter gritted his teeth. “If you don’t want to apologize, I won’t force you. But you’re not really welcome here.”
Zoe crossed her arms. She wasn’t even looking at Rhea as she said, “If it weren’t for you, Peter wouldn’t have been hurt.”
Lauren stepped forward. “Rhea, just apologize, okay? Carter’s in a tough spot. After all, they grew up together. You should show some grace as his wife.”
Voices and accusations tumbled over each other.
Suddenly, the ward door opened.
Helen immediately spoke up. “Ms. Thayer, this is our family matter. Please don’t interfere.”
Caught off guard by the sudden reproach, Lauren didn’t know how to respond. “Mrs. Henderson, I…”
Gabriel and Helen walked over to Rhea. “Ms. Ravelle, thank you for visiting Peter so late at night. But he really doesn’t deserve it. Please don’t let him upset you.”
Peter didn’t deserve it?
“Dad, Mom, what are you-” Peter was stunned.

Gabriel scolded, “Shut up! You caused all this trouble, still won’t learn, and let others run their mouths here!”
His gaze swept over Lauren, making her feel embarrassed and confused. She had no idea what was going on or why Gabriel and Helen were being so polite to Rhea.
. Rhea sat calmly, a faint smile playing on her lips. “They wanted me to apologize, so I came.”
“No need to apologize! No need! You’re not in the wrong. Peter was the one speaking badly behind your back,” Helen said humbly.
Carter frowned. “Mr. and Mrs. Henderson, what are you doing? Rhea acted impulsively, and I should have guided her better. You don’t need to do this.”
Gabriel took a breath. Noticing how closely Carter and Lauren were standing together, he said, Carter, since you have a family, you should know your boundaries. Peter insulted your wife, and that’s our fault.”
He was partly saying that for Rhea, hoping that she would cool her anger and convince the powerful people behind her to let the Henderson family off the hook.
Rhea looked at Carter and smiled. “So, Mr. Jamison, do you have anything else to say?”
Carter gritted his teeth. He couldn’t stand seeing her act so arrogantly.
