“Yeah. I heard that she’s not leaving anymore. I’ve made plans with them. Shall we go?” Lauren

asked.

“Sure. You-”

Carter’s driver, Glen Page, suddenly reminded him, “Mr. Jamison, Mr. Adrian and Ms. Arielle are

already in Draventh.”

Only then did Carter remember. “We’ll have to reschedule. Let’s meet them tomorrow.”

Since the kids were in Draventh, he naturally wanted to spend time with them.

Lauren protested, “But we already made plans. It wouldn’t be polite to stand them up. Why not pick the kids up and go together?”

Bringing the kids to meet their friends wasn’t impossible.

“Drive. Let’s pick the kids up,” Carter ordered.

Glen started the car and headed to the hotel where Adrian and Arielle were staying.

50 minutes later, the car held two children and Alisha.

As evening approached, the sky remained bright.

Arielle looked out the window. “Dad, this place is so much busier than Colburn.”

“The place we’re going later is even more bustling. You two can have all the fun you want,” Lauren

said.

Areille pressed her lips together, not answering.

Rhea seemed to be in Draventh, too. Arielle wondered if she could see her.

Carter seemed to remember something and glanced at Lauren. “You drank today. Can your body…”

His gaze swept over her lower abdomen.

Lauren hadn’t checked whether she was pregnant. If she were, drinking would have been risky.

Lauren’s gaze wavered. “I should be fine. It’s still early, I’ll get checked in a few days.”

Arielle and Adrian didn’t fully understand, but Alisha seemed to catch some meaning.

Carter felt conflicted. He never actually considered divorcing Rhea because of Lauren.

“Dad, what are you checking?” Arielle asked, perceptive as ever. She noticed Lauren touching her belly and knew that pregnancy would cause a small bump.

Rhea had explained this to her, telling her that when she met ladies with big bellies who walked slowly, she should be extra polite and avoid making a scene.

Lauren smiled, her face radiating maternal warmth. “You might be having a younger brother or sister.”

The words made Carter frown immediately. He hurriedly interrupted her, “Arielle, Adrian, you wanted to see the Draventh castle, right? I’ll take you tomorrow.”
