Liam left right after saying that. Carter, left standing there, felt his mind explode with a roar as he froze in place.

Lauren’s eyes widened. Bloodshot veins instantly spread across her eyes.

In disbelief, they figured that they must have misheard.

Not long after Liam departed, the medical team also left, and the crowd started buzzing with speculation.

“They left just like that? They didn’t even say which company they’d work with.”

“Maybe they didn’t choose anyone.”

“No way. Colburn specializes in medical equipment. In Dalea, aside from Snider Group, all the medical equipment companies are based in Colburn. That is, unless they opt for a foreign partner.”

About ten minutes after the medical team left, word arrived.

“What? They chose Scott Group? Louie?” Peter exclaimed, shocked. “Carter?”

Carter sank into his chair. He no longer paid attention to the gazes of his peers around him. All he could hear were the words Liam had said before leaving.

By the time the banquet ended, the hall was empty.

Sharon walked over and asked, “What happened?”

Lauren’s lips went pale as she whispered in utter confusion, “Rhea… Rhea really is from the Ravelle family of Draventh! H–How is that possible?”

“What did you say?” Sharon shook her head. “You must have misheard.”

Peter was stunned, too. “Who told you that?”

Lauren swallowed hard. “Mr. Ravelle himself admitted it.”

He had confirmed Rhea’s identity.

However, Sharon still refused to believe it. “That’s impossible! I checked. There are no daughters in the Ravelle family. Only sons!”

Carter shot up. “Are you serious?”

He clung to the hope that Rhea wasn’t truly part of the Ravelle family.

He tried to reason that perhaps it was because of Nathan that Liam had spared Rhea some dignity, so that she wouldn’t be humiliated in public.

But deep down, Carter feared that he had misjudged Rhea. He didn’t want to admit that he might have been wrong.

Sharon pulled out her phone. “I’ll show you. A friend of mine knows a son of the Ravelle family of Draventh. She specifically asked him.”

In a chat box, Sharon’s friend had typed a message, asking, “Do you have a sister?”

The reply that came back was, “No.”

“See? If she existed, he couldn’t have said no. Nathan must have asked his father to protect Rhea. After all, her relationship with George is complicated. She’s just being protected for George’s sake.” Sharon was convinced that had to be the case.

“Are you sure that your friend’s friend is actually from the Ravelle family?” Lauren asked.

Sharon replied, “Of course! How could it be fake? The Ravelle family is huge. Except for Mr. Liam Ravelle’s family, most don’t even live in Draventh. But they’re still family. If a sister existed, he wouldn’t have said no.”

Carter felt a weight lift off his chest, though a sense of unease lingered.
