At that moment, Philip Turner, the Ravelle family’s butler, stepped outside. He said, “Ms. Ravelle, it’s cold outside. Mr. and Mrs. Ravelle want you to come back in for dinner.”

Rhea didn’t even look back as she ordered, “Keep him away.”

Philip nodded.

“Rhea, we’ve been married once! Even if we’re getting a divorce, even if you don’t care about saving me, you should at least let me meet your family! Let the kids see their grandparents!” Carter shouted.

He didn’t care about appearances anymore. He just wanted the whole news mess to blow over.

Rhea paused, glanced back, and smiled. “Carter, I was the one who exposed you to the media. Do you think I’d save you?”

Carter froze as though he had been struck by lightning. “It was you?”

He assumed it was his rival companies acting out of envy and never imagined Rhea could be behind it. He had assumed that even with her powerful family, she wouldn’t have the guts to retaliate against him.

“Yes. Not just the news, but your old partner in Enstin, too. I had Louie poach it away. This is only the beginning. Yet, you can’t handle it already?”

This was just the start. Carter was far from bankrupt, homeless, or torn from his family.

Rhea’s eyes were cold, devoid of warmth as she continued, “If you like begging, stand here and beg. Don’t even think about meeting my parents. With your abilities, you’re not qualified.”

With that, she turned and walked away.

In the vast estate, her figure was proud and aloof, with no trace of the gentle warmth she once had.

Rhea felt no satisfaction, knowing that Carter wasn’t truly remorseful. He was only afraid of bankruptcy and of falling from grace. If he bounced back, he would be just as arrogant as before.

Philip extended a hand. “Sir, this is private property. Please leave promptly.”

As Carter stared at the towering mansion in front of him, he clenched his fists until his knuckles

cracked.

He hated being looked down on the most.

He wasn’t qualified to meet her family? Fine.

He turned to Philip and scoffed. “The daughter of the Ravelle family is nothing special. She’s rude,

arrogant, and has actually shut her husband and children out. How ridiculous!”

Philip maintained the same smile on his face.

He glanced at the car to make sure that the windows were up and that the children couldn’t hear them before saying, “Sir, your children are precious only to you. Others might not find them so endearing. Also, Ms. Ravelle has neither given birth nor adopted. So how could she have children?

“And most importantly, Ms. Ravelle was raised to be strict with herself and generous to others. But the other party has to be someone worthy first.”

Carter squinted. “Are you insulting me?”

Philip was still smiling. “Yes.”

“Carter! Carter!”

From a distance, someone clumsily got out of a car, struggling on crutches.

Frowning, Philip watched for a long while until the woman reached the estate gate.

“Carter, are you okay?” Lauren asked anxiously.

But with her ankle freshly operated on, she lost her balance and stumbled right into his arms.

“What are you doing here?” Carter’s face darkened. “Go back now!”

They were at the entrance of the Ravelle residence. He didn’t know why she had come here.

“I was worried that they might use their numbers to intimidate you. You’re here alone with our kids. Of course I had to come check on you,” she said, her eyes wide with concern. “Are you okay?”
