The female officer asked, “Isn’t the injured woman your mom?”
Arielle and Adrian answered in perfect unison, “No.”
Glen blinked in surprise, clearly taken aback.
A male officer asked him, “She’s not their mother?”
Glen hesitated.
Upon hearing that, Arielle and Adrian both turned to him at once.
“Mr. Page,” Arielle said, “just tell them the truth.”
Glen sighed. “That’s Ms. Thayer… who isn’t their legal mother.”
“What’s that supposed to mean?” the male officer asked, catching the key phrase. He wondered what Glen meant by “legal mother“.
“We do have a mom. Her name is Rhea Ravelle,” Arielle said. “I have her number.”
Late at night, the Ravelle family’s lively dinner table quieted for a moment, but warmth soon
returned.
Liam hadn’t lost his temper the entire time. Acting as if nothing had happened, he finished dinner, saw David and Janae off, and then went upstairs to rest.
“Don’t blame yourself. Some people just have no shame. You can’t do anything about that,” Nathan
told Rhea.
Rhea shook her head. “I’m not bothered by him. I’m thinking about something else.‘

Carter had been taking advantage of her all along, both in the past and now, showing no restraint. In his eyes, his inconsistency seemed perfectly reasonable, and everything he did deserved forgiveness.
At that moment, the hospital called, “Hello, is this Mr. Carter Jamison’s family? This is the ER department at Draventh First Hospital.”
Rhea hadn’t wanted to admit any connection to Carter, but when she heard that it was the ER, she replied, “For now, yes. What happened to him?”
“The patient has a broken leg and is unconscious. We need a family member’s signature before surgery, and it’s quite urgent. When can you get here?”

Carter had been in an accident?
Rhea immediately glanced upstairs. Nathan had been with her the whole time, so she figured that this probably wasn’t his doing.
Considering Liam’s temperament…
“Do you know when he might wake up?” Rhea asked calmly.
“He also suffered a head injury, so it’ll probably take a few hours,” the doctor said gravely.
Rhea lowered her gaze. “I’m out of town. It’ll take me around five hours to get there. I’m his only legal family member, so don’t perform any surgery on him until I arrive.”
“But the situation is urgent. His leg is fractured, and his tendons are torn. If we miss the optimal time for surgery, he’ll definitely have a permanent disability,” the doctor emphasized.
“I understand,” Rhea said, leaning against the couch and taking a bite of her apple. “I’ll get there as soon as I can. Thank you.”
After that, she hung up.
From her brief words, Nathan could guess what was going on. “Are you really going to sign to approve his surgery?”
“I am,” Rhea said, stretching slightly. “But exactly when, that’s another matter.”
Meanwhile, a call from the police went to George. “Mr. Snider, we have two children here. They say that you’re their uncle.”
