Chapter 201
Chapter 201
The media outlet tried again and again, but the post still wouldn’t go through.
“Mr. Jamison, it just won’t publish!”
“Is there something wrong with your system?” Carter questioned.
“No way,” the editor replied. “Our other stories have been published just fine.”
Carter instantly realized that someone was pulling strings.

Jamison Group stock was in freefall. Its market value was visibly shrinking, and nothing could stop
the decline.
That same morning, Carter got a call saying that Jamison Group’s factory had been shut down due to sanitation violations and substandard medical equipment.
Once the news broke, Jamison Group’s remaining partners all called in, demanding to terminate
their contracts.
Jamison Group had been built on its reputation for quality. Now, with its products deemed
substandard, it felt as if someone were cutting his throat.
“Lies and slander!” Carter hurled his phone across the room.
“Carter, don’t lose your cool.” Lauren, who had just heard the news, hurried to calm him. “They must be working together. People like to kick you when you’re down. But I might have a way out.”
“What way?”
Lauren lowered her head to hide the flicker of calculation in her eyes. “I have a… godfather. He runs a famous chain of dental hospitals overseas. Many celebrities go to him. If I can get him to work with you, we could anchor Jamison Group in Draventh.”
“Since when do you have a godfather?” Carter looked puzzled.
Smiling, Lauren replied, “From a long time ago. I just didn’t keep in touch with him, so I never told you.”
If she wanted stability, she had to help Carter keep his company afloat. Only then could she live openly and securely in the future.
“Is he a Dalean?” Carter asked.
“Yes,” Lauren said. “But I’ll have to meet him in person. He’s busy, after all.”
Carter frowned. “Can’t I go with you? This is a business matter. I’m worried that you might not know

how to negotiate.”
“I can handle it. Trust me.
“Then go quickly.” Carter was frantic. He couldn’t afford to wait much longer.
Lauren nodded. “Alright.”

Three days later, when Carter sent someone to pick up Adrian and Arielle from the Ravelle residence, he purposely called Rhea. “Rhea, do you really think you can bring me down with baseless accusations like this? You’re seriously underestimating Jamison Group.”
Rhea didn’t even bother to reply.
Half an hour later, she received several photos.
In the photos, Lauren was overseas, entangled with a man in his 60s on the second floor of a bar. Bold and provocative, she straddled the older man, a sharp contrast to the tearful, fragile act she usually put on around Carter.
Anthony said, “Ms. Ravelle, Lauren went to ask her old lover for help. It just so happens that his son is in Mr. Arthur’s unit. I’m guessing Lauren wants him to work with Carter to save Jamison Group.”
Rhea lifted her coffee cup. “So that’s Carter’s last hope?”
Anthony looked at her.
She sipped her coffee slowly. “Then let’s smash it to pieces. I want it to shatter loud enough for him
to hear.”
“Understood.”
