Chapter 202
“You should go. I’ve got things to do,” Dexter said, chasing Lauren out.
A woman he could toy with at will was nothing compared to his son’s future. Dexter knew very well
which mattered more.
He didn’t have to put in any money for the partnership, and he had had his fun with Lauren for a few days. It wasn’t a loss for him.
Lauren tried to protest. “Mr. Hopper, you can’t just-”
Five minutes later, she was thrown out without mercy. Shame burned her face. She covered her face with her hands and ducked into her car.
The whole reason she had gone back to Dexter was to prove to Carter that she was more useful than Rhea and that she could help him climb higher.
But now, that disgusting old bastard had turned his back on her.
Just then, Carter called. “Lauren, how did it go?”
She forced her voice to be steady as she said, “I almost have a deal. Give me two more days. Don’t
worry.”
Carter sounded a little disappointed. “Alright. I’ll wait for your call.

He wasn’t idle while recovering in the hospital. On the weekend, he had Adrian and Arielle brought
“Arielle, Adrian, I need to tell you something,” Carter said solemnly.
“What is it?”
“Your mom and I will never get back together. She refused to sign the consent forms for my surgery when I got in that car accident. She wanted me crippled. From now on, I need you to see her for who she really is.”
Carter continued, “I’ll be holding a press conference in a few days. I want you to tell the reporters what she did. Can you do that for me?”
Outsiders might doubt his words, but people would rarely question children. And since Rhea cared about them so much, he would use them to bring her down.
When Peter heard that, he immediately objected. “Carter, aren’t you worried about crossing the Ravelles?”

Carter sneered. “At first, I really thought that Rhea was Liam’s daughter. But when I showed up that day, no one from the Ravelle family came out to see me except Nathan. So I’m sure that Rhea is nothing more than a distant cousin of the Ravelle family.”
The truth was, Liam had never once admitted that Rhea was his daughter. And if she really was, given Liam’s character and experience, Carter was sure that there was no way he would have shut him out like that just for appearances‘ sake.
Being a distant relative of the Ravelles was entirely different from being Liam’s daughter.
How could Liam possibly go all out against Carter just because of some distant relative?
If that were the case, then what was there to be afraid of?
Peter frowned. “But didn’t you go to the Ravelle residence that day?”
How many Ravelle families could there be in Draventh?
