Rhea continued, “In fact, I feel happy and… secure.”

The feeling was strange. Even she didn’t fully understand why.

George’s heart raced wildly. As long as Rhea didn’t dislike him, he had confidence that they could slowly build on their feelings.

“I’ll be busy tomorrow. I’ll take you somewhere the day after.”

Rhea didn’t ask him where. She rested her chin in her hands and said, “Okay. I’ll be waiting.”

She spoke in a cute tone.

George’s gaze turned intense, with a hint of emotion flickering in it. “No more drinking. Go to bed early.”

“Alright.”

“Good night, girlfriend.”

“Good night, boyfriend.”

When the call ended, Rhea didn’t even notice the smile lingering on her face. She found this way of interacting refreshing, and she liked it.

That day, the Pearson residence was unusually quiet.

Kate stayed in her room all day, not sleeping until late at night. She kept replaying the interview online, which was under two minutes long.

The image of George protecting Rhea kept replaying in her mind, over and over.

The next day, Rhea had just woken up when she received a call from Kate, saying that she wanted to

visit.

Rhea agreed and asked Philip to prepare Kate’s favorite dishes so that the latter could stay for lunch.

At 10:30 am, Kate arrived with plenty of gifts.

She thought that Rhea was truly fortunate.

“What’s all this for?” Rhea asked as she walked over.

“Come, sit.”

The women settled on the couch while Philip brought them coffee.

Rhea noticed something off in Kate’s eyes that day. She asked, “What’s wrong?”

“Rhea, are you really dating George now? Have you thought it through? It’s a bit sudden, isn’t it?”

Rhea crossed her arms. “Is it? Well, my parents trust him.”

Kate looked puzzled. “So you chose George because of your parents?”

“My impression of him isn’t bad either. I’ve known him since childhood. I was surprised at first when I realized his feelings for me, but I have to move forward. I can’t let one Carter make me lose

trust in all men.”

Rhea gestured for the maid to bring the fruit George had air–shipped that morning. “Try this.”

Kate picked up a piece. “Draventh doesn’t have this in this season, right?”

Philip smiled. “Mr. Snider had it air–shipped for Ms. Ravelle.”

Kate pressed her lips together.
