~ A couple of days later ~

It’s been weeks at this point since we found that warehouse. Weeks of no answers. Weeks of searching, of looking for Luna. Weeks of letdowns and disappointment.

Nothing has panned out. The warehouse has been cleaned out. We found where they moved it to, but we haven’t caught sight of any kids. No other kids have gone missing either, which is the only good thing. Every suspicious vehicle entering or exiting the town has been cleared by us after a very thorough and illegal search.

And nothing. Zilch. Nada.

We’re all getting more and more frustrated. Luca has some guys working with Ghost, trying to help us with all Bly’s sh.it. Trying to juggle that with these missing kids is fu.cking hard. Our attention is being pulled in a million different directions. I fu.cking hate it. I hate that we can’t find Luna. I hate that we can’t avenge Blythe right now. I hate that I feel so damn useless.

“Okay, something is going on,” CG said as we all sat there for church. All the guys that Karma originally trusted are here for our weekly update on the missing kids. “They never kept a kid this long before.”

“Could they possibly be getting out somewhere else?” Diesel asked.

“No,” Karma replied. “I made sure to cover everythin‘, and we kept an eye on all their locations. Unless they have some kind of tunnel.”

“I checked that out actually,” Breaker spoke up. “I doubt it though. Not in this town. Even the sewer system is complicated. I guess that it could lead out of town, and maybe they’d know how to navigate it, but I seriously doubt it. That’s a pretty complicated way to traffic kids. Especially if they can easily get away with it in a town with the cops on their payroll.”

“I agree that it doesn’t really make sense,” Slider said. “We sure they just don’t know that we’re onto them?”

“Yeah,” Joker agreed. “I mean, even if they don’t know who it was, someone did break into that warehouse. What if they’re waiting an extra long time to avoid being caught? Ya know, better safe than sorry and all that.”

“At this point, that’s all that we can hope for,” Karma said. “Alright, everyone just keep doin‘ what you’re doin‘. Dismissed.”

CG, Havoc, Dragon, and I waited as everyone else shuffled out of the room. Once the last person left and the door was shut, Karma blew out a long breath. I know he’s taking all of this harder than the rest of us. Not that this sh.it doesn’t weigh on all of us, it’s just that Karma feels extra responsible since he’s the prez.

“Any news on Bly?” Dragon asked, breaking the silence.

“No,” Karma replied. “Last I heard from Luca or Ghost was that they were tryna be as careful as possible. Considerin‘ that all the people Luca sent before are dead.”

“How did Bly get so mixed up in all this sh.it?” Dragon muttered.

“She been wonderin‘ why we ain’t let her leave the compound lately?” Karma asked.

“She’s been asking to go see Granny, but we’ve been keeping her distracted,” I said with a smirk.

“I don’t know why you won’t let us tell her,” CG said. “We’ve all been pretty busy with the missing kids. It’s not like she doesn’t know what kind of people Sean and Daniel are. She’d understand if we told her that we were keeping her here after finding out just how dangerous that church is. You really think she doesn’t already know what they’re capable of?”

“I just want her to focus on bein‘ happy,” Karma said. “I don’t want her to be sad or feel bad that we’re lookin‘ into things. I don’t plan to keep it some big secret, but I just don’t think it’s necessary she knows just yet.”

“Okay, well, she’s gonna start askin‘ questions soon,” I told them. “Our time is getting more and more limited with her. I spend most of my time at Jace and Leah’s these days. Havoc is always at work. CG is always locked up, going through those files. You even have Dragon out patrolling and asking questions around town. And you… well, when’s the last time you actually talked to Bly?”

“I sleep with her almost every night,” he replied.

“Yeah, you come in when she’s already asleep, and leave before she gets up,” I said. “She knows something’s up. She’s gonna think we’re all using her for se.x.”

“I haven’t had se.x with her-”

“Since the last time you had se.x with her,” I cut him off. “And now you’re distant and apparently not so desperate for her that you’d wake her up. You know damn well she’d gladly wake up and ride your di.ck if you wanted. She does for the rest of us.”

Karma sighed as he ran a hand down his face.

“Look, one thing at a time, ‘kay?” he grumbled. “You guys just… help her realize that we ain’t avoidin‘ her or any stupid sh.it like that.”

“And you?” CG asked.

“I’ve got a meetin‘ with someone who possibly has answers,” he replied as he stood up.

“Who?” I asked.

“If they have somethin‘, I’ll tell you,” he said.

“Wait, Karma, can I come too?” Havoc asked, getting to his feet. “I really need to-”

“No, gotta handle this myself,” Karma cut him off. “I’m sorry. Maybe when I get back.”

Then he was gone, leaving us all in the dust.

“What the hell is going on with him?” Dragon muttered.

“He’s not doing good,” CG mumbled. “Not since seeing that brand on Blythe.”

“He’s swimming in guilt and anger,” I added. “All the pressure with the missing kids and that church ain’t helping.”

“What should we do?” Dragon asked.

“What can we do?” I replied with a shrug. “We just gotta push through, hope we find Luna, and hope that Karma pulls his head out of his a.ss at some point.”

Because he’s going to have to face reality eventually, no matter how hard it is.

It was hours later when we all got a text to meet Karma at the front gates ready to ride. By the time CG and I got there, Havoc, Slider, Joker, and Reaper were there. They were in deep conversation when he joined them.

“What’s going on?” I asked.

“My meetin‘ paid off,” Karma replied with a tight jaw. “Think I might know when and where they’re gonna head out with Luna and two other kids.”

“What? When?” I rushed out.

“Tonight sometime,” he said. “Let’s go.”

All of us got on our bikes and started them up. The feeling of my baby between my legs felt like home. Bly’s been on my bike, but not the others, not yet. With everything going on, there’s just no time. But I been taking her to see Granny, and I’ve fucking loved the feeling of her being wrapped

around me as we flew through the streets. The only better feeling in the world is being buried

between her pretty legs.

And that was all I thought about as we rode out, me right behind Karma and the others following. Riding has always been freeing. I still remember the first time I rode my dad’s bike. Mom was pi.ssed because I was probably only 8–years–old. I was a tall kid, and was able to straddle that thing. Saw Dad start it up enough times to know what I was doing. It was the best though. I always knew I’d grow up to be part of the club, but after that first ride, I was more excited, more impatient.

Nothing is more freeing than gliding through the streets with the wind whipping past you. I should start pushing all the guys to take Bly for a ride. I should take her for a real ride, not just to Granny’s. Maybe I can whip up some kind of picnic for us-

My thoughts were cut off when Karma turned down a backroad that we all know leads out of town. He pulled over just outside town limits where the trees were thick. There were no houses, just forest. He turned off his bike, and we all followed suit, hiding our bikes just out of sight.

“Joker, Reaper, Slider, and CG, I want you guys hangin‘ back for backup, we’re gonna need it,” Karma started barking out orders. “Havoc and Dragon will be the distraction that gets the van to stop. I’ll pull the driver out while you two keep guns on them. Psy.cho will get the kids out of the back. I told Dev to wait for a call from me with a car. He don’t know the details, just to wait for my call and keep his mouth shut.”

We all nodded before moving to our spots. The four backups hid behind trees, making sure to stay out of sight, but had their weapons pulled. Joker always carries two guns, shooting off like a lunatic when he gets real fired up. Slider and CG are more normal, one gun each, but I know CG has knives on him. And Reaper is just special. Knives are his specialty. The man never carries a gun. You’d think that would be foolish, but you don’t know Reaper.

Karma and I hid on opposite sides of the road, just barely out of sight. He had his gun pulled, but I wasn’t going to. Not unless I had to. Not if I’m in charge of helping the kids.

And fu.ck, I really hope Karma’s right about this.

Suddenly, we saw headlights down the road. Dragon moved to stand in the road. He ditched his cut, obviously to not make it obvious. He held his thumb out like he was hitchhiking, and was waving his other arm around. A black van got closer, slowing down just a little, but not enough. Dragon moved more into the road, trying to get in the way. When the van still didn’t stop, Havoc appeared out of nowhere.

The van screeched to a halt. There was a short breath before the driver started shouting. I didn’t get a great look, but I’m pretty sure there were two of them in the front.

I didn’t waste any time and neither did Karma.

I tuned out Karma barking out orders as he pointed a gun to the driver’s head. Havoc had his gun
