Karma Doesn’t Sleep: The Revenge Queen Rises novel Chapter 224

His voice was quiet, but every word had a bite of ice. He was really angry this time.

Donna shrank back, trying to make herself invisible, not daring to say a word. But in her head, she couldn’t help but complain: Now the tables have turned and you finally know what it’s like to get hurt.

Clive forced himself to stay calm, his face cold. “If you ever talk out of turn like this again, I don’t care whose side you’re on—not even the old lady’s—I won’t go easy on you.”

“Yes, sir,” Donna stammered.

Everyone thought Salmeron was gentle and easy to get along with, but when he got mad, he was honestly terrifying. Still, Donna was the old lady’s eyes and ears—he had to remember that.

After a second, Clive took a deep breath and lowered his voice. “Don’t worry about me and Amelia. She’s just been acting out lately. Let her get knocked around a bit out there—she’ll come back when she’s learned her lesson.”

Getting rejected by West Medicine today was exactly what she needed. She brought this all on herself.

“Yes.” Donna bowed her head, mumbling her agreement, but as she turned away she grumbled silently, Good advice is wasted on someone who’s doomed. Just wait—when Mrs. Salmeron finally dumps you, see if you don’t end up crying alone somewhere.

Meanwhile, after leaving the mansion, Amelia drove straight back to her apartment.

On the way, she cooled down and started replaying everything in her head, finally noticing details she’d missed before.

Back in her junior and senior years of college, she’d spent two years making medicine for Clive’s so-called ‘cousin’. She remembered it well. There was one time Clive couldn’t pick up the medicine, so she took it upon herself to deliver it to the cousin’s place—Golden Bay Estates, number 79.

She’d just arrived when Clive rushed over, looking frantic.

Amelia always prided herself on her memory. Maybe not photographic, but definitely sharp enough. Even after all this time, she could still picture how nervous Clive was that day. He’d grabbed the medicine from her and made up some story about his cousin’s house having too many rules, that it wasn’t a good day for visitors.

At the time, she’d thought it was a little strange, but she’d been too in love with Clive to question it.

She also remembered him making a phone call, and soon after, a housekeeper hurried out to take the medicine—someone who treated Clive with way too much respect.

Thinking about it now, Amelia’s eyes turned cold and clear.
