Karma Doesn’t Sleep: The Revenge Queen Rises novel Chapter 230

Amelia had no clue what Ryan was thinking.

Back in college, everyone knew her as the one with the sunny disposition. She never lost her temper, never got into arguments. Even Dr. Borgen used to get frustrated and would scold her for being too agreeable. “You have the talent of a genius, but none of the fire. Sooner or later, people will walk all over you,” he’d say.

Amelia would just smile and let it go.

It wasn’t that she didn’t care—she just knew exactly what she wanted.

Take group projects, for example. The rule was that everyone in the dorm had to work together, but her three roommates were so slow it was painful. Working with them was a waste of her time, but she needed the credits. So, she’d finish the whole thing in an hour on her own. The others just slapped their names on the paper. They’d feel a little guilty and try to make it up to her with bubble tea or takeout.

The dorm stayed peaceful and drama-free.

To outsiders, it looked like she was being a pushover, but to Amelia, she was just getting what she wanted with the least effort possible.

Ryan was the only exception.

He never bought her “nice girl” routine. He saw right through her gentle front to the cool distance underneath. He was the only one who could push her far enough to make her show her sharpest edge.

“Ryan, did I do something to offend you?” she’d finally snapped one day after class, cornering him at the back door of the lecture hall.

The sunset behind her was blinding. Ryan squinted into the light, looking her up and down with a lazy smile as she glared at him.

He arched a brow. “Wow, you actually get angry? Here I thought you were made of stone—always the same expression.”

Amelia was speechless.

Seriously, had she ever met anyone more annoying?

She pointed behind him suddenly, eyes wide in fake panic. “What’s that?”

Ryan glanced back instinctively.

She didn’t hesitate—she kicked him in the knee and took off running.

Actions spoke louder than words. She wasn’t just capable of being angry—she could fight back, too.

The memory faded, and Amelia lowered her head even more.

She’d had no idea back then. All the paperwork had said Ryan was an orphan, but he turned out to be the secret son of the Packman family—the most powerful and mysterious name in North Olympic.

She never would’ve guessed that one day, Ryan would be her client.

If she’d known, she would have run the other way and been nothing but polite.
