A few seconds later, he reached out and took it.
…
Meanwhile, in the executive conference room
Kristen slid off her safety goggles, her eyes sharp as she looked at Nathan. She’d just finished walking him through the key part of the experiment, doing her best to impress.
“Mr. Morris, I’ve done everything you asked,” she said, voice steady. “When is Mr. Packman coming? Can we sign the contract today?”
Nathan barely glanced up. He was sprawled in his chair, both legs kicked up on the table, fingers busy tapping away at his phone. He looked like he couldn’t care less, and the sight made Kristen’s annoyance flare. She had to fight not to roll her eyes.
How could the Morris family have someone as brilliant as Aaron and then turn out a train wreck like Nathan?
“Oh, the experiment’s over?” Nathan finally responded, not even bothering to pause his game. He sounded bored. “We recorded the whole thing. The video’s already on Ryan’s phone. Whether he’s happy or not, you’ll just have to wait and see.”
Kristen clenched her jaw, frustration simmering beneath the surface.
So Ryan hadn’t even bothered to show up at West Med today. Typical. West Med was a big name in the industry, but the Packman family’s business empire was on another level—global, massive, impossible to measure.
Ryan was the illegitimate son, finally getting a shot at a proper inheritance. He was probably off somewhere scrambling to win over the Packman patriarch, fighting George for his spot in the family.
Kristen forced down her irritation and managed a polite smile. “Alright then. I’ll be waiting to hear from you.”
She turned to leave, her face calm and collected, lips curving with quiet confidence.
Amelia was probably still locked up in the restroom. Right now, Kristen was West Med’s only option, and she knew it.
In her mind, Ryan was all talk, just pretending to be in charge. This deal was hers for the taking.
As soon as Kristen stepped into the elevator, her phone rang. Clive’s name lit up the screen.
She picked up right away. “Salmeron.”
“How did it go?” Clive asked.
Kristen smiled, her voice warm. “Everything went smoothly. Mr. Packman was very happy with me. He had something come up at the last minute, so the contract will have to wait till Monday.”
