Karma Doesn’t Sleep: The Revenge Queen Rises novel Chapter 240

The study in the villa was quiet, sunlight spilling across the floor. Amelia had locked herself inside, standing out on the balcony with her phone pressed to her ear as she talked to Diana.

“Do you want me to help you find a divorce lawyer?” Diana’s voice was practically bubbling with excitement, like she had just gotten the best news ever. “Amelia, you’ve finally made up your mind!”

“I made up my mind a long time ago.” Amelia leaned against the railing, brow furrowed as she spoke. “Clive’s not going to let go of the kids without a fight. I need a great lawyer, but I don’t have much money. I should get three hundred thousand in my account next week, but I might need to pay the legal fees in installments…”

Cloudcrest’s legal team had a reputation for being ruthless and undefeated, handling everything from corporate battles to criminal cases. Taking them on would be a real fight.

Amelia’s world was mostly academics and scholars. The Sadinton family’s connections were out of reach now. Diana was the only one she could really count on.

Diana had never liked Clive, not for a single day. In her eyes, he was never good enough for Amelia.

“Hang on, give me a minute!” Diana started flipping through her contacts, determined to find Amelia the best divorce lawyer in the city.

Suddenly, Diana’s voice came back, a little breathless. “Amelia, I found someone! The legal advisor from my last film is a top divorce attorney—Andrew!”

Of course Amelia knew the name. Andrew was famous for handling huge international deals, never taking a case unless it paid in the millions. He was unbeatable, so much so that he switched to criminal law for a while and even managed to get the opposing lawyer locked up. Maybe criminal law got boring, because last year he started taking divorce cases. Even Selfhelper—the mysterious contact who’d messaged her—had put Andrew at the top of the recommendation list.

He sounded amazing. But…

“Diana, I can’t afford him,” Amelia said, honest and a little embarrassed.

Diana almost blurted out that she’d pay, but right then her phone buzzed with a bank notification. The money she’d just gotten from her latest gig had already gone to bills.

“Amelia, let me just set up a meeting with Andrew. Go talk to him this afternoon—if he’s willing to take your case and let you pay in installments, that would be perfect. If not, we’ll find someone else. You never know, maybe we’ll get lucky.”
