Karma Doesn’t Sleep: The Revenge Queen Rises novel Chapter 244

Andrew flipped through the papers, his face cool and unreadable.

“Ms. Sadinton, I do feel for you,” he said. “But honestly, in this day and age, cheating—especially when it comes to rich men—is nothing new. Trying to use that as leverage to win custody from the Salmeron family… well…” He paused, searching for a softer word. “It’s a bit naïve.”

“That’s exactly why I came to you,” Amelia replied, steady as ever.

Andrew spun his pen between his fingers, his sharp eyes sizing her up from behind his glasses. “So you want to use my reputation to put pressure on Clive. Make them think that even if they take it to court, they might not win?”

“Yes,” Amelia said, straightforward and honest.

Andrew had never lost a case. She’d done her homework—just a couple of years ago, he’d taken on Cloudcrest’s legal team during a big international merger, and that was one of the few times Cloudcrest’s lawyers had ever lost.

She was certain Clive knew exactly how tough Andrew was.

And besides that, she still had a few cards up her sleeve for Clive. No need to tell Andrew everything just yet.

“Andrew, since you switched to divorce law, you haven’t really had a headline case,” Amelia said gently. “If you take this on—help a nobody like me take down the Salmeron family—it’s enough to make your name in this field.”

Andrew studied her across the desk.

She was gorgeous, but there wasn’t a trace of makeup on her face, her clothes were simple, and she sat there without a hint of nervousness. That kind of composure didn’t come easy.

He found himself thinking Amelia was a lot more complicated than she let on.

And, strangely, she looked familiar.

A thought came to him. Without giving anything away, he picked up his phone and scrolled through his messages.

He found what he was looking for almost right away—a message straight from the head of the Packman family.
