She doesn’t love him anymore?

Clive’s first instinct was denial. No way. He didn’t believe it for a second.

“What kind of nonsense is this? Are you done throwing a fit or do you want to keep going?”

Amelia just stared at him, completely speechless. Was he seriously not getting it? Did he not understand plain English?

Fine. If words didn’t work, maybe he’d finally get the message when Andrew showed up with the divorce papers on Monday.

He grabbed her wrist, holding on so tight it actually hurt.

“Clive, you’re hurting me!”

But he refused to let go. Instead, he leaned in closer, his voice low and insistent. “Amelia, take back what you just said.”

She almost laughed. He was being so childish it was pathetic.

“Clive, do you even realize how immature you’re acting right now?”

He glared at her, jaw clenched, his eyes boring into her like he could somehow change her mind if he just stared hard enough.

Amelia was about to snap back when she noticed his grandmother coming their way.

“Grandma,” she called out, her tone instantly softer.

Clive finally let go of her wrist, fingers slowly loosening, and sat back down before his grandmother got too close. He tried to look like nothing had happened, but his eyes never left her, burning with frustration.

Amelia acted like he wasn’t even there. She stood up and helped his grandmother to her seat.

“What are you two talking about?” Mrs. Salmeron asked, her gaze sharp as ever, clearly sensing something was off.

“Nothing important,” Amelia said quickly, steering the conversation away. “Grandma, let me check your pulse and get started with your acupuncture.”

Clive let out a cold snort.

Of course she could act sweet and attentive now. Just said she didn’t love him, but in front of his grandma, she was the perfect daughter-in-law.

Amelia ignored him, focusing on Mrs. Salmeron and gently checking her pulse.

Clive sat there fiddling with his phone, but Amelia could feel his attention glued to her. It was so obvious he was only pretending to be distracted.
