Karma Doesn’t Sleep: The Revenge Queen Rises novel Chapter 253

“Sorry, I called the doctor.”

Kristen’s clothes were ruined, torn beyond repair. Clive pulled the blanket up to cover her nearly bare body, then pressed the call button by the bed.

“Someone from the medical team will be here soon. I need to go.”

“Clive…” Kristen caught his hand, her grip lingering, unwilling to let go.

The look in her eyes made his heart soften for just a moment.

Clive reached out and gently brushed her hair, his voice low and comforting. “I’ll make sure to bring Penny by to visit you.”

He carefully slipped free from her hold and walked out, never looking back.

As the hospital door closed behind him, all the softness vanished from Kristen’s face. Hatred and jealousy surged in her eyes.

She yanked off the bandage on her wrist. Her skin was flawless—not a single mark. She had never really tried to hurt herself.

Kristen snatched up her phone and dialed her mother.

“Mom, Clive just left me!” Her voice was icy, full of venom. “It’s all that bitch Amelia’s fault. I want her gone!”

Clive left the hospital and checked into a nearby hotel.

He went straight to the bathroom, turned the water to cold, and let it pour over him until he finally felt a little more in control.

With water streaming down his face, he pushed his hair back, staring at his reflection in the mirror. He still felt like he was burning up inside.

Suddenly it hit him—something had been wrong with the soup his grandma gave him.

Amelia drank it too, so why was she fine?

Clive frowned, thinking back. He remembered Amelia tossing away a handkerchief, how she knew medicine inside out. She must have realized something was wrong and never actually drank it.

She knew he’d drunk the tampered soup and still let him go see Kristen?

His expression turned even colder. That burning in his chest had nowhere to go. With a sudden burst of anger, he punched the wall, his knuckles splitting and bleeding.

Half an hour later, Clive finally stepped out of the bathroom in a robe.

Aiden had already left a bag of clean clothes by the door.
