Karma Doesn’t Sleep: The Revenge Queen Rises novel Chapter 261

“So handsome, big brother. I’m not this Tang you’re looking for, but…I’d still go with you if you asked.”

“Get lost.” Clive shoved the woman off, way past caring about being polite.

He couldn’t bother with manners or self-control anymore. Just the thought of Amelia showing up tonight in that dress—looking like that—and maybe leaving with some random guy to a hotel, made his jealousy almost painful.

At that moment, Will pulled up, having tailed Amelia’s car all the way to the club.

The second he walked inside, the music just about blasted him out the door.

Will had lived abroad for years, but the rowdiest he ever got was grabbing a quiet drink with work friends at the bar downstairs. Usually, that meant a slow acoustic set, not a deafening dance floor.

He didn’t mind being alone, and he’d never really needed wild parties to have a good time. Clubs like this just weren’t his thing—not that he had a problem with them, he just preferred places where you could actually hear yourself think.

He figured Amelia was just here for the experience, out of curiosity more than anything.

Scanning the room, Will saw nothing but a sea of moving bodies, the lights making everything dizzy and surreal.

“Excuse me.” He stopped a server passing by, slipping a wad of bills into the guy’s pocket.

The server’s face lit up. “How can I help you, sir?”

“I’m looking for two women who just came in. One of them’s wearing a red mini dress—really gorgeous. Do you know where they’re sitting?”

...

Meanwhile, Amelia was perched on the edge of a semi-private booth, clearly out of her element.

She was surrounded by eight male models, each with his own brand of hot—some ripped and athletic, some boyishly cute, some with that smart, sophisticated vibe. One of them, who looked like he could be half-European, was bold enough to grab her hand and press it to his chest.

“Feel my heartbeat—see how fast it is when I’m with you…”

Amelia actually went along with it, but her fingers felt more clinical than flirty. She frowned. “Give me your left hand.”

The model thought she was about to get playful, so he held it out, but then watched as she pressed her fingers to his wrist, her expression suddenly all business.

He looked totally confused.

Across from her, Diana nearly spat out her drink.

Amelia checked his pulse for a moment, then beckoned him closer. The guy, who’d probably flirted his way through every club in the city, suddenly looked like a lost puppy.

He leaned in, and Amelia cupped her hand around her mouth to shout over the music. “You’ve been staying up too late. Your heart’s not doing great, and your kidneys are running on empty. If you keep this up, you’ll have arrhythmia in six months—and, well, you’ll start having performance problems.”

The last bit made his eyes go wide.

“Are you serious? I’m only twenty-three!”

“I’m a hundred percent serious. I come from a family of doctors.”

Even in a red strappy dress, with dance lights flashing all around, Amelia’s inner overachiever was impossible to miss.
