Karma Doesn’t Sleep: The Revenge Queen Rises novel Chapter 267

She rolled up the window in a hurry. Through the rearview mirror, she watched Dr. Borgen’s stern, academic face wrinkle in disapproval as he lectured them. “You’re the future of medicine. Set a good example. Spread healthy eating habits. Barbecue this late at night? Not healthy at all!”

“Oh, come on, Professor, just give it a try!” Greg latched onto Dr. Borgen’s arm, refusing to let go.

The whole scene made Amelia want to laugh. She used to be the youngest in the group, but when it came to acting cute to get what he wanted, Greg was in a league of his own.

Their senior Susie and big brother Robert were totally used to it by now.

In the end, Dr. Borgen huffed and glared, trying to look angry, but a helpless smile kept sneaking onto his face. “You troublemaker. You don’t actually care if I eat barbecue. It’s the end of the month, you’re out of cash, and you want me to pay, right?”

Greg grinned, looking like he’d pulled off a master plan. “Professor, you’re too sharp. No wonder you’re the backbone of Baybridge University.”

“Don’t try that flattery with me.”

Laughing and joking, the group walked past her car.

Amelia stayed hidden inside, barely breathing as Dr. Borgen’s coat brushed against her car door for a second.

She didn’t have the courage to face her old professor, and she definitely didn’t want to ruin the team’s good mood.

Ryan came back with a big bag of food. On his way, he’d spotted Dr. Borgen and the others heading into the barbecue restaurant.

He climbed into the car and, just as he expected, found Amelia slouched in her seat, looking like she’d lost all her energy.

Ryan’s brow twitched, but he didn’t say anything. He just handed her the bag of food.

She opened it and her eyes instantly lit up. Inside were all the snacks she used to love back in college.

Ryan opened his water bottle and took a drink, acting casual. “I just grabbed a bunch of random stuff. Hope it’s okay.”

Amelia popped a skewer into her mouth. “Perfect. Everything you picked, I love.” She smiled so brightly, it was like she’d just tasted the best food in the world.

Ryan glanced at her, a soft smile spreading in his eyes.
