Karma Doesn’t Sleep: The Revenge Queen Rises novel Chapter 268

The worst part was that Amelia didn’t even have her phone on her. No texting, no scrolling, not even a fake call to save her from the silence.

Her eyes wandered to Ryan’s hands on the steering wheel and she froze for a moment.

He was just wearing a plain gray shirt, sleeves rolled up to his elbows. His arms were lean and strong, not bulky, just the right kind of fit. His wrists were defined, leading down to wide palms and long, elegant fingers. They looked almost too perfect to be real.

Suddenly, a memory popped up in Amelia’s mind.

She realized, kind of late, that before she ever saw Ryan’s face again, she’d actually noticed his hands first.

Those hands—seriously, they looked like they belonged in an art gallery.

That day, the elevator had closed before she could get a good look at him, but those hands stuck with her.

Leaning back in her seat, Amelia couldn’t help but think fate was a little too dramatic for her taste.

Seven years ago, she’d passed Ryan at the airport and honestly thought that was it, end of story. She’d never see him again.

Now here he was—her new boss.

Which meant she was going to be running into him all the time. Just thinking about it made her head hurt.

Back in college, she’d managed to tick Ryan off more than once. She’d even slapped him. Twice.

As they got close to her apartment building, Amelia decided she might as well clear the air. “Mr. Packman.”

Ryan’s eyebrow lifted a tiny bit when she called him that.

He just waited, letting her keep going.

“I know I probably did a lot to offend you back in college. Can we just forget all that? From tomorrow on, I’ll work hard, do my job, make money for the company—and for you. I’ll be the perfect employee, promise.” She blurted it all out in one go and then shot Ryan a nervous look.
