Karma Doesn’t Sleep: The Revenge Queen Rises novel Chapter 274

Meanwhile

After tidying up, Amelia slipped into bed, finally ready to call it a night. As she settled in, she remembered that Diana had sent her Will’s contact info earlier. She grabbed her phone, sent a friend request, and shot over a quick introduction.

Amelia: Hey Will, it’s Amelia.

Honestly, she figured it was way too late for a reply. Will was probably already asleep. But to her surprise, he accepted her request instantly.

She was just about to type an apology and explain what happened earlier when Will beat her to it.

Will: Is it okay if we do a voice call?

Amelia hesitated for a second, her fingers hovering over the keyboard. Talking would definitely be faster. She started to type “Sure,” but before she could send it, another message appeared.

Will: If not, no worries. Sorry, I know it’s late. I didn’t mean to bother you.

Amelia couldn’t help but smile. Instead of texting, she just hit the call button.

Across town, in a tastefully decorated penthouse with classic touches, Will was nervously glued to his phone. When he saw Amelia calling, he jumped to his feet, heart pounding.

He cleared his throat and answered.

“Amelia?”

“Yeah, it’s me. Are you okay? I’m really sorry about today. Everything was such a mess—I didn’t get to go to the hospital with you or even say goodbye,” Amelia said, guilt clear in her voice.

“It’s fine. Just a few scratches, nothing serious. And you didn’t do anything wrong,” Will replied, then paused, his tone careful. “That guy tonight… who was he?”

Amelia didn’t hesitate. “That’s Clive. He’s the CEO of Cloudcrest. And, well, he’s my soon-to-be ex-husband.”

Cloudcrest. CEO.

Will’s eyes widened. So Amelia was the “Mrs. Salmeron” Kristen was always talking about. All those visits to Cloudcrest’s R&D department, and the woman he’d been searching for was just down the hall the whole time. And he’d been so dismissive, never realizing who she really was. Embarrassment hit him hard. If only he could go back and knock some sense into himself.

Amelia waited, then, after a few silent seconds, asked, “Will? You still there?”

“Yeah, I’m here. I just—” Will struggled for words, relieved that Amelia didn’t seem to know any of it.

“Amelia, is it okay if I keep in touch?” His voice was just a little too tight, the nerves impossible to hide.
