She didn’t rush to call him back. Instead, she decided to go find him herself.
Meanwhile, Clive got tired of waiting for Kristen to show up and went to the R&D Department Two to look for her. She wasn’t there, but her computer was still on. When he glanced at the screen, he spotted an email—a rejection from the West Medicine president’s office.
The shock hit him hard.
Kristen hadn’t landed the West Medicine deal at all.
She’d looked him right in the eye and lied about it.
Just then, Kristen called.
He was about to go find her anyway. “Where are you?” he asked, voice tight.
“Salmeron, I’m in your office,” she replied.
Clive gritted his teeth, trying to hold back his anger. “Wait there.”
He hurried back to his office and found Kristen waiting on the sofa. Cameron had just arrived and was sitting next to her.
Cameron noticed Clive’s dark expression and asked, “What’s going on, Clive?”
Clive barely gave him a glance, his eyes locked on Kristen, his face cold and stormy.
“You told me you got the West Medicine deal. I just saw their rejection email on your computer.”
Kristen’s eyes filled with tears before he even finished.
“Salmeron, I was just about to tell you. I don’t know what happened, but at the last minute West Medicine switched to Amelia instead.”
Clive was stunned. “That can’t be. Amelia’s proposal didn’t even have the core data.”
Cameron suddenly smirked, a thought flashing across his mind. “What if Ryan’s top assistant, Francisco, has a special relationship with Amelia?”
Clive’s glare was ice cold. “What are you trying to say?”
Cameron shrugged. “A few days ago at lunch, I saw Amelia and Ryan’s personal assistant together near West Medicine. They were pretty close, but as soon as they saw me, they split up like they’d been caught. Guess even someone like Amelia could catch Francisco’s eye.”
“Enough,” Clive snapped, his voice like steel. “Cameron, you’d better be sure about what you’re saying.”
Cameron didn’t back down. He pulled out his phone, made a quick call, and managed to get the street surveillance footage from that day.
Sure enough, there was video of Amelia and Francisco together, right across from West Medicine.
Clive stared at the footage, fists clenched. The two of them were face to face, talking and laughing like old friends.
He never even knew Amelia was close to someone as important as Francisco.
