Karma Doesn’t Sleep: The Revenge Queen Rises novel Chapter 287

Amelia slid a folder from her bag and handed it over, her movements cool and unhurried.

“These are my shares in Cloudcrest—eight percent, all tech stock. Mrs. Salmeron gave them to me years ago. She already signed and stamped everything. As soon as I sign, the contract’s official.”

Sammy stared at the document, eyes glued to Mrs. Salmeron’s seal. He tried to look calm but couldn’t stop his hands from trembling with excitement. With that eight percent, his family’s influence in the company would go through the roof.

“I’ll sell you the shares for half their market value,” Amelia offered, reeling him in with a sly smile. “But on one condition: at next week’s board meeting, I want Clive out. For good.”

The truth was, her eight percent didn’t give her much power. It was just a safety net Mrs. Salmeron had set up for her—a sort of personal guarantee. But for Sammy’s family, it was exactly what they needed to tip the scales.

Sammy closed the folder and dropped his previously casual act. He reached out and shook Amelia’s hand.

“Looking forward to working with you, Ms. Sadinton.”

Deal done, Amelia wasted no time on pleasantries. She just started eating—she’d been running around all morning and was starving. Sammy sat across from her, quietly watching.

She looked up, a little annoyed. “Why are you staring? Eat your own food. If you’re finished, go.”

Sammy grinned. “You know, Amelia, I never realized how pretty you are.”

She shot him a steady look. “Maybe because every time you saw me, you’d just glare and say, ‘Amelia, just you wait.’” She lifted a brow, a hint of mischief in her smile. “Well, I’ve been waiting.”

Sammy could only rub his nose, momentarily at a loss. Honestly, this sharp, witty Amelia was way more interesting than the old version who used to trail after Clive.

When they finished eating, Amelia and Sammy left the private room one after the other. Sammy, hands folded behind his back, matched his steps to hers.

“Where to, Ms. Sadinton? Need a ride?”

Amelia shifted away, keeping her distance.

“No thanks. You go your way.”

Other than her kids, she had zero desire to get tangled up with the rest of the Salmeron family. Her deal with Sammy was strictly business—nothing more.

Sammy didn’t take it personally. With his long stride, he quickly pulled ahead, reaching the landing just as two people came down the stairs. Face-to-face. No way to avoid it.

Sammy raised his brows, grinning. “Hey, cousin. Out with Ms. Watts for a secret rendezvous?”

Clive’s expression turned icy. He already knew Sammy was the one sabotaging him behind the scenes, so there was no pretense of friendliness. He was about to brush past, but then he caught sight of Amelia behind Sammy.

Clive stopped dead, then strode straight toward her.
