Karma Doesn’t Sleep: The Revenge Queen Rises novel Chapter 316

When Amelia spoke, Kristen spun around so fast you’d think she’d been shocked. She wasn’t expecting to actually see Amelia standing there. Her eyes went wide, a mix of anger and disbelief flashing across her face.

“Amelia, what are you—ah!”

Before Kristen could finish, she stepped right on a pen lying on the floor. She lost her balance and lurched forward, landing hard on her knees at Amelia’s feet.

Amelia sauntered over, water glass in hand, and casually pressed her foot down on Kristen’s hand.

“Ow! Amelia! Are you blind?” Kristen yelped, pain flaring in her voice.

Amelia looked down at her, pretending to be surprised. “Oh wow, sorry! Did that hurt? Get up, will you? We just ran into each other and you’re already kneeling? That’s a bit much, don’t you think?”

She almost wished she’d worn stilettos today. If she’d known Kristen would be here, she would’ve made it count.

“Amelia!” Kristen was furious. She scrambled up, looking ready to launch herself at Amelia.

It was just the two of them here. Kristen didn’t even bother to fake politeness anymore. She knew there were no cameras in Dr. Wade’s office—no one ever walked out with a recording.

Amelia didn’t even blink. She watched Kristen get ready to pounce and said, all cool and casual, “Kristen, you know Dr. Wade could walk in any second, right?”

That single line stopped Kristen cold.

She swallowed her anger, brushed dust off her skirt, and glared at Amelia with perfectly made-up eyes, burning with hate.

Kristen’s mind was spinning. Why was this woman here in Dr. Wade’s office?

It didn’t take her long to figure it out. Will. It had to be Will. That woman must have flirted her way into getting Will to pull some strings for her.

But Amelia already had that West Medicine deal. Why was she even bothering to show up here?

Unless…

Kristen’s glare turned icy and sharp, as if she could burn a hole in Amelia’s face.

She’s here for Clive. Of course.

No wonder Clive, who never cared about Amelia, was suddenly acting different these days, like he actually gave a damn.

It all made sense now. Amelia was playing hard to get. She talked about divorce, but then kept showing up in front of Clive, just to remind him of their history, hoping he’d hesitate to let her go.

What a manipulative snake.

Kristen let a smug smile creep up and strutted over, hips swaying like she owned the place.
