Waterford Estate
Clive’s driver pulled up right in front of Kristen’s house.
“Thank you,” Kristen said, flashing a polite smile. She stepped out, waited for the car to pull away, and then her whole face changed in an instant.
She stormed inside, her anger written all over her.
The living room was huge and gorgeous, filled with antiques behind glass—every piece worth more than most people’s cars.
Bianca appeared from the prayer room next door, a string of rosewood beads wrapped around her hand. The second she caught sight of Kristen’s mood, she signaled for a maid to bring over a bowl of bird’s nest soup from the kitchen.
Kristen didn’t even glance at it. “You can all leave,” she said sharply.
The staff disappeared, and only Kristen and Bianca were left in the room. Kristen’s expression tightened.
“Mom, I think Amelia already knows I’m your daughter,” she blurted out.
Bianca sank into the sofa, lazily running her fingers over the beads.
“So what if she does?” Bianca scoffed, not even bothering to hide her contempt. “She’s useless. Does she really think she can get revenge?” She gave a cold laugh, not the least bit concerned. “The Sadinton family’s fortune became ours twenty years ago. Amelia has nothing. If she actually dares to go up against my daughter, she’ll end up just like her mother—dead and gone.”
Kristen still looked worried, her brow furrowed.
